Has anyone else been playing this? It's a new game for the 360, and I think I'm in love.

Imagine, if you will, a bizarre combination of Resident Evil 4, Twin Peaks, Saints Row, the Prisoner, and Silent Hill. There's a little bit of Rogue-like in there too. I honestly can't figure out exactly how to classify it more firmly. It's such a weird mishmash of concepts and genres that it sort of stands on it's own.

You play an FBI agent with an imaginary friend who's attempting to solve a series of murders in a small town. Everyone in the town is just as nuts as you are, too. You divide your time between running weird quests for the residents and going through more RE4 style zombie stomping sessions. You also play as your imaginary friend in Clock Tower/Silent Hill style events. This, of course, assumes that you've been eating and sleeping and having your suits dry cleaned while you collect trading cards based on your adventures. I am not making any of this up.

It's twenty bucks brand new, and even though it's VERY rough around the edges, It's worth picking up for its sheer kitsch factor. I love this time in the console generation: all the weird, nutty stuff starts trickling in, and it always costs next to nothing.

Is this a disk game? I saw one of my friends playing it the other day and it looks and sounds interesting. I haven't seen a copy locally at all.

I've seen it at Gamestop. Thought it was an old release for $20. Sounds like one I would want to play when I finally bite the 360 bullet. From the description, it sounds as if this thing is primed to go cult.

Red Seeds Profile is the PS3 version. In both English in Japanese, you'll need to get the Asian version as it's import only. Not interested enough to import it anyways.

It looks like it could be on the PS2 or XBOX also. I think Xenosaga 2 and 3 pulled off the same graphics. This is the only reason I'm not interested, as one part I've seen looks nice, but it was a storyline part.

The graphics are... Well, they're shit. Blue Stinger quality. It sort of adds to the charm though, in a Plan 9 From Outer Space kind of way.

I've been wanting to pick this up since I read that horrible IGN review for it, I love the Twin Peaks theme it has going on. It was supposed to be released alongside with the 360, but something happened and it wasn't. There's supposedly going to be an Asian "English language version" released according to Play-Asia, so I may end up having to import it if that's the case.

Color me interested. The huge difference in review scores from IGN(2/10) and Destructoid(10/10) make this a must-try. At $20, I'm willing to take the plunge.

I know what the original title is, so I guess I'll make myself clearer. There's apparently 2 Asian versions according to Play-Asia, one being the normal release (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bp-77-2-49-en-15-red+seed+profile-70-3rhq.html) that has English voices with Japanes in-game text and a recently added straight up English version (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-bp-77-3-49-en-70-3rnm.html) that's fully translated. If that second listing is correct, then I'd more than willing to throw down the extra bread if Igniton decides not the release the game here.

I'd rather play this one (and almost anything else) on the PS3, but I'm not shelling out $50 for it. Will it matter if it's the English only version or the English/Chinese one?

This game is extremely mediocre. I played it for a few hours with a friend, and literally made it no where. Very fun to play with a friend in the room, sort of like watching a bad movie. By yourself? I'd say pass.

Far as I understand it, it's only available on PS3 in Japan and Asia, and an English edition is coming to Asia, but it isn't coming out domestically for the PS3. And the Asia English edition is something like $65 or $70 versus the $20 for the US Xbox one. I broke down and grabbed it for Xbox today :)

Actually it was just recently Play-Asia took down the English Asian version listing, so it's all still up in the air. Someone from Ignition posted a comment on their Deadly Premonition board regarding the release of the PS3 version.

We intended to release the PS3 version alongside the 360 version but that was changed due to reasons I can't talk about. Though with the 360 version going over so well maaaayyybe that will be rectified. No promises though.

The comment leaves a window open and judging from his comment, I think that it may be released more sooner than later.

It wasn't really a rumor, it was falsely reported by one site and then after that debunked, Play-Asia made a listing for a English version and then suddenly took it down say it was "canceled". I did read however that the game is still very much playable and that most of the dialogue is spoken.

Okay so I picked up this game over the weekend, it's good! despise what IGN said and Destructoid's hilarious review, I really like the game. It feels like Dead Rising with the time, except the time... IS REAL TIME. it doesn't go by too slow or too fast.

Complaints? A few. Maybe one being that they loop the music over and over and over again, it gets annoying. ALSO, sometimes it can get to slow, and for a small town why the fuck is it so big? Like... everyone lives so far away!

I have not gotten to far into it, but I am really enjoying it, got that, Zach?

I'm halfway through, so far so good. If you grew up playing PSX era survival horror games this is a must have. The Gamestop I bought mine from had three copies and when I asked for it the clerk had never heard of it before.

My only real complaint is with the annoying wall crawling enemies, but the conversation about the bizarre sandwich in the diner makes me forget all about them.

Man, this game is more than a little inspired by TWIN PEAKS -- the music, characters, settings and mood (right down to the lead guy talking to "Zach" the same way Dale Cooper did to "Diane" on the old series) are more than a bit the same, lol.

It's like if you had a Japanese developer try to make a TWIN PEAKS game, couldn't get the license, and then applied RESIDENT EVIL 4 shooting and aiming to the game -- you'd end up with this.

Utterly bizarre, VERY playable though and a lot of fun!!

Queen Of The Felines

I just finished this last night and I absolutely freakin' LOVED IT. The first two hours or so are pretty sloppy, but around the middle of chapter two it starts picking up. Chapter four was full of one "OMFG!" moment after the other. I still don't care for the "otherworld" parts that much, but the "main" part of the game is just so over the top with tons of ridiculous moments which made it quite enjoyable. This isn't merely a game, this is ART.

Now I have to replay it and do the sidequests and card collecting. I know I missed out on a ton of stuff by skipping those.

I picked this game up after getting a pretty good deal for a 360, hell this is one of the main reasons I wanted to get a 360 and I was looking for any excuse to get one to play it. So far I'm enjoying the hell out of it and was well worth the price of admission.

I don't understand a lot of the complaints I've seen about the game, from it having "horrible graphics", to the controls completely sucking, I just don't see it at all. The controls are rather good when compares to other survival horror games and hell you can even strife while aiming, something not even the more recent Resident Evil games let you do. The graphics are decent enough, it's lacking that certain polish we've gotten use to, but they aren't nearly as bad as people try to say they are. Of course the story is pretty damn interesting and the characters are extremely colorful, this game is as charming as it is bizarre and is becoming one of my favorite games of this generation.

Only complaint I agree with is that the driving is a bit wonky, but since you have more than enough time to get to your main objective, you can pretty much slam into everything while exploring the town without feeling rushed. Besides that, it's extremely well made for a budget title and has more thought put into it than majority of the games released this generation.

In any case, I just finished this game and loved every minute of it!

Graphically, it's much better than what is stated. It's very detailed, but in a "last generation" sort of way. The story was a bit confusing at times, though really engaging.

SPOILERS!

I am not too sure, but are there different endings depending on the action you choose near the end? The one in which the player has to decide whether or not to kill Emily, York/Zach, or Kaysen. I chose Emily, and from the looks of it the ending might be the same for all selections.

Now to play the game on Easy and Hard, just to get the achievements. I will try to continue from the last chapter, the Epilogue chapter, but on hard, to see if I can access the "Hard" achievement.

Also, any idea on how to obtain he "Completed" achievement? Does it have to do with completing all side quests and/or collecting all cards? I am going to find more cards when I reload the game data, but I would like to know exactly how to achieve this.

Still, it was a great game and I hope they either continue the franchise or at least make similar games like this one.

The most disturbing part was Thomas as a woman... eww LOL

I chose to shoot Kasen at first, she died anyway and Zach was sent back to the white room and York asks him if he wants to try again. I assumed it's the same if you decide to off yourself, not sure what happens if you say No to him tho.

The whole segment where Emily was running to the clock tower and it flashing back to York talking to Zach was great, the dialogue "between" them was put together really well. Thomas in drag was pretty creepy, especially with off keyed singing of Miss Stiletto Heels playing in the background, it really captured the disturbing factor of it all.

The ending hints at a sequel and I really hope they decide to make one, since I really enjoy my time with Zach and Francis York Morgan.

MASSIVE SPOILERS!!!

There is something that I just don't quite "get", however. It's the end, when you see all the girls, Emily and York (as well as Thomas) in the dinner, and York and Emily kiss. What I don't understand is how can both of them be together if York was simply a split personality? Or was he the ghost of another child? Or did his personality take a life of it's own?

In any case, I am trying to get all those trading cards, just to get the "completed" achievement. Then after I do that, I will replay in the future to get the EASY and HARD achievements.

Is it true that the game will be released for the PS3 later in 2010 (specifically in GameFaqs it says 2Q of 2010)? If so, would there be any differences? If there is at least one difference, it should be the ability to start a new game with all the items obtained in the first play-through, or at least the cards and the side quests related to the cards. This is why I want to get the cards now, so I don't have to worry about them later on in the game.

Also, I replayed the chapter where Zach gets to choose who to kill. The correct answer is Emily, so choosing the other two simply will return you to the selection screen, though Zach killing himself was quite shocking, to say the least.

I really do hope they continue the series. The dog holding Kaysen's doll did in fact seem to leave it at a cliffhanger, so I hope a second part comes to fruition.

What I got from it was that York was a presence that came to the aid of a traumatized Zach and simply took over for York until he was able to finally come to terms with what happened. In the end Zach was fianlly able to be on his own, thus York leaves him to be with Emily and the other Goddesses.

Not sure how much different the game play or graphics are between the two versions, but the game was originally announced to be released on both consoles. This was slightly touched by an Ignition employee on their DP board and while they said they couldn't say why they ended up not releasing it for the PS3, the overwhelming positive feedback and sales of the 360 version may help them reconsider. Some think that it may be released on the PSN rather than as a hardcopy, since it will help it keep it's budget price. Regardless I'll buy a copy just to help support the game further.

this is one of the best games released in the last few years, full of surprises, top-notch storyline and memorable/lovable characters with fantastic soundtrack.
combat is decent but nothing really worth writing about, it's just competent, at the same time the weakest part of the game because everything else is just awesome.
graphics is a mixed bag, characters(main) look great, rain effects are really good, the open world textures are super weak but the development would cost a lot of money if they wanted to make open world aspect rich in details, overal looks passable, you're not playing it for graphics but for amazing twists and storyline, it's just a game you won't forget.
and it costs only $19.99 in west(in Japan it goes for full retail price),
get yourself a favor and buy it, it's the new shenmue! (kind of ^_~).

After reading through this thread earlier in the summer I went and got a copy because I am a fan of "Twin Peaks" and wanted to see this for myself. However, it had to sit around for awhile because I was busy overhauling my guides.

After finishing that task I finally sat down to play around with this game. So far, I have only done the first chapter and trying to do the autopsy stuff.

You guys weren't kidding about the "Twin Peaks" influence. These guys must've seen every episode in that short lived series. The influence is so heavy one has to wonder if they had David Lynch guiding them from the sidelines.

The controls are less than desired but I am getting used to them. Given the size of the town this may take me awhile to finish.

how is it no one has made a thread on this yet? lol impossible

Graphics...lets be serious, 1st generation low budget ps2 graphics at BEST

Sound design? basically 3 songs looping over and over again and always syncing up at the wierdest times taking you out of the story, sound often cuts out during dialog and volume levels can change without notice

game mechanics? dated, barely functional on the ps1 and completely unforgivable by todays standards

controls...UNPLAYABLE, plays like a game that was originally designed on the dreamcast then ported over but controls were left intact

all that being said, I FUCKING LOVE THIS GAME!!! lol this game has some magical pact with the devil, it delivers charm in spades, this falls into the so bad its good then bad but back to good again category lol, seriously for a budget title i personally feel you get more than your moneys worth

anyone else play this???

You totally should, especially if you feel like playing Resident Evil, GTA, Shenmue, or Sobokan. Or if you don't feel like watching Twin Peaks but want to bask in its glory anyway.

I've been buying all the ten dollar copies I run into and giving them to friends. Not a single one has "gotten" it, though. This makes me sad.

Oh yeah: Giantbomb.com has a video play-through of the ENTIRE FUCKING GAME. It's in the Endurance Run section, and it's very very funny. Highly recommended.

Could be they don't see spectacular graphics or it isn't like "Black Ops".

Not trying to piss anyone off, but this is what I notice when people who don't like it do. Instead of giving it a chance, they automatically say it sucks becuase of the most trivial of things, mainly that listed before.

If they only gave it a chance, they would have noticed a great game.

I don't know how fair of a statement that is. It's clearly a niche title with limited appeal. I think I could get into it, but I'm not going to insult those who can't.

The day I purchase a 360, this will be the first game I get.

PS3 version is called Red Seeds Profile. Only released in Japan and Asia but has English dialogue in all regions. If anyone is interested and don't own a 360, you may as well put $50 in your "to purchase 360 later" pile and then buy the 360 version later or else you'll be paying an overpriced amount for the PS3 game.

$50? Hardly, it's been $20 since it's release, if not cheaper.

The 360 version is less than $20. The PS3 version will cost you $50 or more. I was saying you may as well put that $50 into buying a 360 so you can then get the 360 version of the game.

Oh my bad, completely misread that.
