I tried to search for this topic but could not find anything because I can't think of any word to replace "Wii" such that the search engine would register as it will not recognize any search word with fewer than 4 letters.

I don't see too many Wii collectors out there maybe because of the sheer number of shovelware in the library. Plus it is a huge library so it would be very difficult for completist. On the plus side though, most titles could be have for cheap so it's not so bad if you are trying to complete the set.

So I just wonder if we have any active and dedicated collectors on here? What are your thoughts on Wii collecting? I would love to hear about them. :)

sheer number of shovelware in the library

I think you just found out why you're not seeing many dedicated collectors.

I've got like 12 Wii games, mainly because I got one at launch and then started focusing on older systems afterward. There's about 15 more games I'd like to own though.

I have a Wii collection. It's six games strong, and by the time I'm done it'll be at least twice that!

Not to crap on the Wii, it fills a niche.

I bet anyone collecting Wii has quite a sealed collection!

Hahahaha!

I have close to 100 titles, and I can honestly say around 80% of them are still sealed!

I collect...when the price is right. $5 or less? Sure, will pick it up, no matter how "shovelware" the game is.

How ironic.

Hey I have that (non 2010 Edition)...and it's still sealed! LOL

Truth be told I was all over the Wii collecting wise when it first game out. Then after the first year, when the shovelware and absolute worst of the worst started coming, I sold off a majority of it.

When a console library starts looking like a PC discount bin, it's time for the system to move on.

I'm not a Wii collector, but I've been trying to grab more titles for ours lately. Then again, some good things have been trickling in.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom ftw!!!

I'm focusing more on the older systems and the DS right now, though.

if people can collect complete ps1 or ps2 collections, complete wii collections are within the realm of possibility

I'm not a Wii collector, I'm just not a fan of the system. But I met someone who loves it and although he couldn't tell me how many games he was able to tell me that staked up they are about 8-9 feet tall.

So there are collectors out there.

I currently have 22 Wii titles with 89 more waiting in my wishlist. 2010 is going to be brutal.

I collect for the Wii. All my games are sealed. I own Metroid Prime Trilogy CE. That's it.

Yeah, I'm usually the same way unless I have some reason to believe the game is genuinely a waste of space on my already cramped shelves. I figure I got my money's worth from the 30 minutes or so I spent with The Monkey King and Octomania, for example.

I don't know if you'd consider it a collection, but there is about 6 games sitting on the shelf collecting dust. Virtual Console get's played more than anything.

I've got about 15 or so games. A few of them are still sealed (recent purchases). I'm pretty picky; I'll pick up a game if it's $29 or less. There are a few exceptions where I'll pay full price for a game. I don't do shovelware for the most part.

I have 88 games for Wii, and this is strictly from acquiring games that I actually want to play (although a couple are questionable, like Wii Play).

I have five Wii games. Three of them were bought for $10 or less and one came with the system. I only collect them when they are cheap and non-shovelware.

I'd say I have a Wii collection. I have several dozen titles (All bought new) and another 20 or so I"m on the look for as finances allow. And that's only buying what I want to play.

I think I have 350 or so games for the Wii, but I haven't been keeping up with the games as they get released.

Are you trying to go for a complete collection? There are more than 1000 games released already.

I currently have 32 games for the Wii. Until I get a PS3 later this year it is my only 7th generation console which it means it probably gets a little more love than it should.

Having said that, none of my games are shovelware, only 1 remains to be played (which is a sequel to a game I've yet to complete - must do that!). I could probably get rid of 5 or 6 games and not really miss them. I will probably hit 40 or so by the end of the year.

I'd say roughly that 20 - 50 games is about right for any console you own, though of course many of us go way beyond that :D

I've got around 20 games for the system and I ignore shovelware. I stopped picking up a lot of games which I didn't expect to play in the near future because I believe Wii stuff as a whole will be extremely common in the future. Gamecube games, however, have all but disappeared in my area so it's lucky I hoarded when they were around. There's certainly some gems on the system beneath the mounds of shovelware, Klonoa being one of my favourites.

I have 20 games for the Wii, but I'm not collecting games for it really. I'm just buying the games I want to play.
There are so many crap games on Wii it's unreal! I've never seen a system with so many garbage titles. Do people really buy those games?

Unfortunately yes. :(

I know my brother picked one up that deals about a marching band. The player has to move the wiimote up and down, in rythm, to move the band.

I swear, it looks as though the player is masturbating.

Are there really over 1,000 released US games for Wii? I don't think there are that many yet. For DS yes, but Wii?

Can you imagine 1,000+ shovelware titles?

Definitely not going for a full set, but the missus and I have put together a pretty decent Wii collection so far. Apparently we're close to 100, but we've got a number of doubles (she doesn't like to share :P), so I'd guess there's probably 75-80 unique titles in there.

Man, I know PS2 had some bad shovelware titles too. Mediocre fishing, hunting, and video board games, as well as some really terrible mainstream genres.

I do, sort of. I have 23 games for it, all of which games I wanted to play. I don't buy anything for a new console that I'm not already interested in.

There's probably 10 or so other Wii games I'm interested in picking up when the price drops, as well as quite a few upcoming ones I want.

I had up to 40-45 and was collecting some misc. crap. I have a few speculative "rares" including 2x Fritz Chess (one sealed), an opened F1 2009, and a sealed One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. I picked up some shovelware or less notable releases just because. I sold some of the fat though, so now it's probably down to 30.

Shovelware or not, it would be cool to see someone assemble a complete Wii collection. Would definitely be unique I think.
