After playing some NES games this weekend on my 20" Sony Trinitron Flat Panel CRT, I realized just how much I love the look of my classic games on CRT monitors. The only problem is that this is the only CRT I still own, my other TV is a 32" Sony LCD. To make a long story short, I am now in the market for a CRT television and need some help.

I am looking for something between 30" and 47", preferably 37" or 42". I prefer Sony to other models because I just love the picture quality, durability, and style of their TV's. I'm open to other brands, but not by much. I'd like this TV to have RGB, Component, and VGA, but RGB isn't necessary. Anything that you can think of here is welcome.

I also have a few questions to help me in my search:

1. I remember seeing an almost flat Sony (I believe) CRT TV on this site, but can't find the post. The TV came on some sort of stand, and had a speaker system as well. I loved the look of it and am very interested if anyone knows the model name.

2. Is there any advantage of round screens over flat panels? I've heard bad things about light guns, but my trinitron seems to register shots on Duck Hunt perfectly.

If you can come up with anything, please post it here. Oh, and pictures are welcome!

Hey Broski,

Your right about the Sony's being the best... I myself am trying to track down a nice Trinitron for myself... So far, everyone is saying this one is best.

thats a 36" 4:3 super fine pitch tube. You don't want wide screen when using old systems.

There's 2 different tubes by Sony, the Hi-Scan, and the Super Fine Pitch (SFP being better).

I'm wondering if the Super fine pitch has too high of a resolution, and that perhaps the Hi-scan (next step down) would be better suited for Standard definition gaming.

Can anyone add to this? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Good luck mate!

That is definitely a sweet TV, and now on my Amazon Wish List. Anybody else have any suggestions or info?

Make sure you have help to carry the damn thing though. I have a 36" XBR that's in our living room and the damn thing weighs 250 lbs.
