A/V switchbox problem

I just bought a new TV and my old Mad Catz A/V switchbox will not work with it. It works fine with my old TV but I am getting a "no signal" message on the new TV. If I hook up each console directly to the TV they work fine but not through the switchbox. Any ideas?

I imagine this was the first thought that crossed your mind, but just in case it wasn't, the first thing to do is double check your wiring.

If that's correct, I guess it's weakening the signal just enough where your new television is deciding to not display the signal. If you keep a VCR with your setup, try routing things through there so it can boost the signal strength and see if that does any good.

Are you running the same resolution through it as with your previous setup? Some switchboxes like the unpowered 4 port Pelican/GameStop switchbox work just fine with no noticeable issues for most people with standard definition, but start routing something like a 720p signal through a cheap switchbox won't always yield optimum results.

What kind of signal is coming from the box to the TV: Antenna, composite, component, or HDMI?

Sometimes the TV has settings where you have to change the "input" signal to composite, or component, etc. Basically you have to tell the TV what to look for. It's a long shot, but I have seen this on some TVs.

My second thought is that the signal coming from the box is too weak, and the TV is not detecting it. In that case, something to boost the signal like a VCR (as someone suggested) or a switchbox with it's own on-board booster would help.

Yep, it works on my kitchen TV which is a 15 year old 13 inch color set and it worked on my old 27 inch set that I just replaced.

I'd recommend getting a powered one. I've never had luck with non-powered ones like MadKatz ones or RadioShak ones.
