For those of you interested in chip tuning, us here Aetherbyte have been working on an MML compiler for the PC Engine/Turbo Grafx-16.
MML for those who don't know, is a fairly easy to learn and use music language system that has been around for decades now. Look up Music Macro Language and you can find alot of info.
The current compiler is nearing a release to the public, and will work for CD and HuCard builds . It comes with a pretty extensive manual, example songs (with the MML of course!), and a template to build the song (in case you are not very programmer-oriented)
The compiler aims to be compliant with the music system detailed in the Hu7 documentation/Develo book. The former is the actual development kit for the PCE, and the latter is a version that was released in the late 90s for public enjoyment.
It also adds in some MML standards that have been put in place by other platforms, mainly MSX.
The compiler features the possibility for custom waves, modulation effects, pitch envelopes (for slides and stuff), volume envlopes, and percussion using the noise channel. Alot can be done with this bad boy!
It's called Squirrel, and here is a demonstration. If you check the youtube account, you will find another video as well!
