View Full Version : What's the best of the Fallout 3 DLC?

I've been playing a lot of Fallout 3 lately and I see that all of the DLC are half price this week.

I might buy one or two of them since 400 points seems like a good price.

Any input on which ones to play or stay away from?

Another board mentioned Broken Steel as the best of the lot. I might go with that.

Speaking as someone who's put around 150+ hours into the game...

Anchorage sucks, plain and simple. Not all that fun, doesn't give you much else as far as items or places to go (it all takes place in a "virtual dream")

The Pitt is a decent story with some cool new environments and some awesome weapons, not bad.

Broken Steel is a must! Ups the level cap to 30, continues the main story and gives you more items.

Point Lookout is also highly recommended. A HUGE new area to explore, lots of missions and new weapons and a very enjoyable set of side stories.

Mothership Zeta isn't bad for a new way of doing things (fighting aliens with zapper guns, very retro sci-fi) but can get very repetitive toward the middle. Simply okay.

Best to worst, IMHO:

Broken Steel
Point Lookout
The Pitt
Mothership Zeta
Operation Anchorage

I'd second that list but I'd also add it's extremely close between BS and PL.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the mini-reviews. I think I am going to go with BS and PL. I might try the pitt, too.

Thanks!

I think the pitt is a bigger version of the arena in oblivion, /shrug

I more or less agree, although Anchorage gives you the Winterized Power Armor & Helmet (which don't ever need repairs) and the Gauss Rifle, which is a pretty cool weapon. I'd probably put Anchorage above Zeta, but have enjoyed playing all of them (my total game time is around 110 hours).

Point Look Out was my favorite, since it was actually challenging. I wasted so many stimp packs, it wasn't even funny.

It's nothing like the arena... there is an area where you fight in a pit, yes, but that's about 5% of the expansion.

Personally I would just recommend getting the GOTY version of Fallout 3. You can probably get it for less than $30 and it includes all of the DLC. Sell your original copy for $10-$20 and you'll make out pretty well.

Huh? Have you actually played The Pitt? I don't see any similarity at all.

Anyway, Broken Steel is the best one to get.

"I think" when I saw it like 2 years ago...or whenever it came out. Looked like it.

I have about 150 hours in to this also but I liked OA. I find BS to be the worst so far except the fact that it raises the level cap.
