View Full Version : A laugh at my expense....
This morning I decided to delete my stepson's profile from my Xbox 360.....and without paying enough attention, accidentally deleted MY profile instead. Goodbye profile, goodbye just over 9000 gamerscore. 11 months of gaming vanished. All I could do was laugh. At least I did it just after I'd finished Lost Odysee, at 106 hours. Oh well, it wasn't entirely a bad day. On my lunchhour I scored a very clean white PS2 slim at our local indy shop. The "texture" is still on the sticks. I'd been looking for one forever.

Dude, "recover profile" works for silver profiles too iirc. Won't get your saves back (well some of them actually) but it'll get your score/etc.

You can delete your saves, but not your profile (online ID, gamerscore, etc.) from your Xbox. Anything associated with your Gamertag is stored on MS servers, not locally.

I swear some save files and data is stored elsewhere - I've loaded up a ... dammit I can't think of the game name, the one that's like Super Metroidish that was done awhile back... I downloaded it at a friend's house and retrieved my profile to his console and it loaded my game!

lighten up people, it's april fools day hehe.
I assumed that I can't recover my profile because my system has never been online. The gamesaves are still there designated for an "unknown user" but if you drag them to a new user profile to complete the games, the console cautions you that you'll get no achievements for those games. I guess it prevents you from cheating by taking over someone elses achievements. I decided to suck it up and do a system wipe and start all over since I was tired of the Gamertag that I'd chosen anyways. I now have a "brand new" 11 month old 360. And no, Princess Isabella, it unfortunately isn't an April Fools joke. And if it matters, I also don't run a harddrive on this console. I use memory cards.
