First of all, Happy Easter! May you all have a blessed day.

Second, in order to keep this on topic for classic gaming, have any of you ever received a video game in your Easter basket?

Obviously I'm referring to when you were a kid. I remember once receiving an Easter basket with two Game Gear games nestled with the eggs. I think they were "X-Men" and "Sonic Chaos". Ah those were the days. Video games and chocolate rabbits.

I'm pretty sure I got some chocolate rabbits with shareware DOS games as a kid. Can't remember which games though.

I also remember getting Need For Speed III/Moto Racer in a double pack around Easter when it came out too.

I remember finding F-Zero X under all the green grass in my basket one year. Now that was pretty awesome.

Haven't gotten a video game in quite a few years. I used to get a GBA, Gamecube, or N64 games though when I was younger.

Although I did get $50 this year, so I could buy games with that :)

This is the Easter Basket my wife made me this year:

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/2905/easterbasket2010halo.jpg

I haven't ripped into it yet since the other half is still sleeping, but from what I can make out it contains:

A HALO Special Edition XBOX 360 console
A HALO Special Edition XBOX console
HALO 3: ODST
HALO Legends DVD
A canvas HALO UNSC Messenger Bag
A canvas HALO wallet
3 Pewter HALO pins
3 HALO patches
A plasma Sword keychain
Turtles candies
Jelly Belly jelly beans (10 flavor box)
Kit Kat minis 10 pack
Snickers minis 10 pack
2 carrot shaped bags of Reese's Pieces

I'd never gotten a Special Edition (original) XBOX before, so it was really great to finally get my hands on one for the amazing price of 'gift'! The disc tray on my old XBOX is sort of wonky, too (you have to bump the console sometimes to get it to eject), so it's extra nice to have a new one.

As a kid, no. Never. Just the standard chocolate, peeps, etc. I don't do Easter now as an adult. So no, never have. I'm just looking forward to cheap chocolate on Monday.

Sure, probably in every Easter basket from around the age of 11 or 12 (when I got back into gaming) until I stopped getting Easter baskets. And prior to that I always got some sort of normal gift in addition the usual chocolate and such. My Easter gift usually wasn't on the same level as something I'd get for Christmas or my birthday, though, so when it was a game, it was probably almost always a Game Boy game given that they were cheaper than home console games. The only game I specifically remember getting for Easter was Harvest Moon, though.

Your lucky, my wife didn't get me shit! But then again I didn't get her anything either. ROFLHa, I guess it's fair turnaround then. You should maybe give her one next year though. If for no other reason it's fun to make them, and who doesn't like giving/receiving goodies. Like I said, we exchange baskets every year. I usually make her a basket with a purse from her favorite designers (Isabelle Fiore), and she always makes me a game themed one.

Here are the last few I gave to her:

Wife's 2010 basket (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/1403/wifesbasket2010birds.jpg)

Yeah, it wasn't especially long, but I went at least 2-3 years without any gaming in my life. I really loved NES when my brother got one when I was 5, but 3 or 4 years after that he lost interest and sold it all off, much to my dismay. I didn't have any of my own systems or games until I finally saved up enough to buy my own SNES.

No big deal I just get elites for Easter, yup nothing big. You? Oh just chocolate? Yeah this is my 3rd Elite. No big deal. My wifes getting me the FF13 Elite for Memorial Day, no big deal.

I mean jesus christ how loaded are you?

EDIT: I'm totally jealous of the RE one, totally obsessed with that game atm.

Hah, yeah, those are pretty extravagant baskets. I like the idea of exchanging baskets and I think I may try that in the future, but no way would I make them that expensive. :P

We never really celebrated Easter in my house when I was a kid. Sure, we would color eggs or get chocolates to eat but the we never did the whole hunting for eggs or Easter basket thing that I can remember. I certainly never remember getting presents as a kid. I never realized that people actually gave presents until I worked at Gamestop. A few years ago I was working and it was stupid busy in the store. I wondered out loud why it was so busy and my co-worker said "Everyone's buying Easter presents for their kids."

At first I was like @_@ then I was like :?

I turned to him and asked " So is this some sort of new religious development or something?" and he goes "Nah, I've been getting presents for Easter ever since I was a little kid" (We are roughly the same age).

I was like :o at that point, it literally blew my mind. Then I remembered not having that same set up when I was a kid and I was like :bullshit:

My parents liked surprising me at easter. I got my original NES when I was 5 on Easter (and it was such a huge surprise). Then I got an N64 when I was older at easter, which was awesome.

As a kid, I'm sure I did though I can't recollect any specifics.

This Easter, I was given a Atari Flashback 2+. :)

I mean jesus christ how loaded are you?Oh, not very. Actually, she got my Resident Evil 360 for a steal. She's a pretty good shopper and chases deals when she finds them.

EDIT: I'm totally jealous of the RE one, totally obsessed with that game atm.I really enjoyed RE5, too. That RE Edition was my second 360. My first one was a launch unit and it's still sealed in the box, I never opened it. Not for collecting purposes or anything like that, I just didn't really want a 360 then (it was an unsolicited Christmas gift). But when I got the RE5 system (which came with RE5, and Street Fighter II HD) I tore into it right away. I'm a survival horror fiend, and Resident Evil is pretty much the Gold standard since Silent Hill jumped the shark after part three. :(

My Resident Evil 5 basket came with a lot of RE goodies. One of the cooler ones was a Making of Resident Evil 5 DVD, that came with a USB thumb drive shaped like a chainsaw:

I remember getting a Duncan yo-yo, some wooden tops and a set of jacks... Sometimes a kite too. That's back when kids still played outside a lot though.

Solid chocolate anything > Hollow chocolate anything. Chocolate with crispy rice or caramel centers trump everything!

No more Easter baskets for me... I'm older than 10. LOL

That's about the extent of what we ever got as well. Sure, we did the whole painting and hunting for eggs thing, and getting candy and whatnot, but when I found out about other people getting big gifts on Easter, I was pretty confused by the concept.

I remember getting a Duncan yo-yo, some wooden tops and a set of jacks... Sometimes a kite too. That's back when kids still played outside a lot though.Slightly off topic, but man, I just digested that part about the yo-yo and a kite.

I'll never forget when I got my first Duncan yo-yo -- it was a clear deep purple one. That thing got so much use it was ridiculous. I used to play with constantly, but sadly, I never mastered it, which was secretly a source of great shame because I knew people who could do tons of yo-yo tricks. Still, no matter how hard I tried I just wasn't very good at anything but the basic up and down motion, and I wasn't especially good at that even. :frustrated:

And I use to freaking LOVE flying kites, I haven't done it since I was a kid though. Every single year for the past 15 or so years I say that I'm going to fly kites in March, and every year I make some excuse not to. I really should just do it.

I'll give ya the games part, but I've never been a teenage girl. LOLIt's actually pretty funny because whenever I show my wife pictures of people's game rooms she always like; "That looks like a little girls room with all those toys and fold outs on the wall." LOL

Thats...so...fucking...badassIt is pretty cool, but it was really difficult figuring out how to open the chainsaw drive. I must have spent 15 minutes trying. It wasn't really tough once I discovered how, I just didn't want to break it while trying to figure it out.

Don't remember getting games, but I did get the Pac-Man Fever album one year. Too bad a hamburger eraser made me sick. One whiff of that and I was puking. Not so good times. Also, the album skipped. Majorly. I remember we took it back, but the other one skipped too.

I loved yo-yos. Then later, it became a fad and you got all those weird ones that would auto retract... After that I was told that these were originally invented as weapons and I loved the idea that an intended tool of violence was turned into an innocent play-thing. :D I got back into them right after that happened. I still have my pro-comp yo-yo I got then. Still throw it around when I'm lost in thought about other things. It's like chewing pens/pencils for others.

Agreed on the kites too. I laughed so hard when the Big Bang Theory guys went to fight kites... I'd do it too.
