Just a question for those who own any MM protos. I'm not looking to buy them off of anyone, but could you guys perhaps post pictures or even videos of these protos? Specifically, images and videos of gameplay? Simply put, it's fun to compare the differences between content in the final and beta/proto builds of MM games, so I'd love to see anything significant.

For instance, someone here posted up a "Mega Man X7 E3 Special Edition" a few years ago, which was an E3 build of X7. It'd be great if that individual could provide a few images or videos of it in action.

The MM community is always looking to research beta, proto stuff, and since we can't really afford to buy them, this is the next best thing...well, dumps are nice, too, but people do tend to not share protos.

I have a Mega Man 2 proto with a bunch of text differences, most notably "Clash Man" instead of "Crash Man".

Edit: What MM community are you talking about and why is it that they can't afford protos? Just curious.

Ah, I guess that would explain why they printed "Clash Man" in the U.S. manual.

Clashman is also present on the back of the box, and found in the Japanese Rockman 2 release (in game). The Megaman 2 prototype pictured is sort of a happy medium between the two. It has the US title screen and English text (albeit, some of it's early), but the Japanese Robot Master names. Pretty cool stuff.

To be specific, Rockman Perfect Memories and The Mechanical Maniacs. We've been working on compiling all sorts of beta/prototype stuff for years and could really use some new and interesting finds. We've had opportunities to purchase protos of a number of Mega Man games in the past, but they owners were asking for WAY too much ($500+). We've got a tight budget.

EDIT: Oops, double post.

We dumped a Mega Man 3 proto maybe 9 or 10 years ago, I assume it's in the GoodNES set somewhere. The only differences were a couple of random bugs that weren't terribly interesting.

Does it have the "normal" and "difficult" modes that were added for the U.S. release?

I'm nearly positive it does, but I'll have to check. Give me a minute and I'll see what's up.

Edit:
- Yep, it has the difficulty choices just like the regular US release. I've played through on normal but never got around to playing it through on hard mode. I don't expect there to be much of a difference between the two. I never realized that the Japanese release was lacking the difficulty selection, so I suppose there could be some differences (ie, how much shots it takes to kill a certain enemy).

Nothing I own or anything, but I recall someone upped this Trailer to Youtube;

The footage of "Mega Man: the Wily Wars" seems very prototype-ish, and is full of oddities and glitches.

(EDIT: Also checking on it, funnily enough, "Clash Man" is there, as well.)
