Hey guys,
My Genesis/Sega CD started making a really loud humming sound through the TV speakers any time it was on, there would also be rolling lines moving up the screen pretty much all the time.
I had it hooked up with an RF switch, then changed to an AV cord, but there was no change.
Any ideas?

If your Sega CD is a model 1, do you have the metal plate that goes between the Sega CD and Genesis installed? I think that's supposed to help cut down on RF interference.

Yea, the plate is installed, and I made sure its fully in position, still no luck though - any other suggestions?

Are you getting the audio out of the headphone jack, or the a/v hookup? Do you have the mixing cable hooked up?

Are you using the official AC adapter or a third party one?

Yeah, I would switch out the power supplies one at a time. You might as well start by dis-connecting the sega-cd from the genesis and test the genesis by itself to see if the problem is with the Sega CD or the Genesis.

Sounds like it might be the RF box failing. They do after several years. Might be worth popping off the RF box lid and having a look, might be a capacitor going a bit brown or the top not flat, etc; needing changing.

Can't be the RF since the OP said it does it with the AV cable as well. Seems to be a bad power supply.
