Wii M4 Rifle

Though I'd share this. It's something I have been working on. It's a full size M4 Carbine Wii zapper made from an airsoft M4. It has the B button wired to the M4 trigger. There's also an "A" button on the forearm. It has a wireless nunchuck which is strapped to the vertical grip of the M4. All buttons on the Wiimote are accessable.

The geek and game-lover in me can easily say that looks really cool. Nice work.

BUT, the old-fart and parent in me has to chime in with reservations -

1) It looked like there was a baby-seat on the floor near the TV. I wouldn't want any young child, especially a baby, to see that gun. I wouldn't want a child associating a gun with fun, especially a heavy-duty machine gun.

2) Assuming the gun was a real gun, I'd do whatever is required to permanently disable it so that nobody ever picks it up thinking it is still just a Wii controller, and then unintentionally shoots something or someone. Could be a horrific, if unlikely, accident waiting to happen.

Still, that is a neat accomplishment. I love controller hacking.

Nifty mod but I would never touch the thing. I am not big on guns at all.

Just to clarify, this was made from an airsoft rifle, not a real rifle.

I didn't make this as a kids toy. I spent 6 years in the active Army. I created this for adults who prefer the feel of the real thing rather than pointing that little white thingy at the screen. You can actually aim this rifle, unlike the zapper which you just point at the screen. If there were a version for teens, I would make one with a clear body.

It's not too heavy if you use it right. You lean forward with both elbows on your knees. This allows you a steady platform to aim. It will be very light once I remove all of the airsoft components. I left them in there because I actually wanted to keep weight.

Yes, it was Ghost Squad. The next step is to optimize it to play Call of COD:MW Reflex Edition. I need to make the Wiimote detachable also.
