Hi, I have a like new copy of The Karate Kid. It even has the plastic the cart was packed in. I also have a copy of Dragon Warrior that has the box, styrofoam and the manual - Nothing else. What ere they worth? The Dragon Warrior box shows some wear.

The first Dragon Warrior and Karate Kid are not worth much. I'd say 10 bucks a piece.

I'd say the first Dragon Warrior complete is worth less than $10 since I can get it around here for $3. Not sure about the Karate Kid though.

I suppose I'll throw Dragon Warrior on eBay some time. I'm not sure about Karate Kid, Maybe I'll throw that on there too. There was a complete copy of Dragon Warrior that fetched $50 on eBay not long ago, However that had all the papers and I just have the manual.

IIRC they had 2 different copies of Dragon Warrior, one that came with just a manual (free version you got for subscribing to Nintendo Power) and the regular version which came with some extras like a map and some other misc things.

I'm not sure if all retail versions came with the extras or just the first print run but I'm gonna guess that the $50 copy from eBay was the nicer version with all the trimmings and the $10 estimate would be good for the basic manual only one that you would get from NP.

I had no idea there were two different versions, Thanks! Oh and the $50 copy was the one with more booklets and such. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye out for copies of that one.

Dragon Warrior with just the cart, manual, box is worth about $10. A complete one with the two maps, the index card with the spells, and the explorer's handbook is worth more- not sure how much more and if there was anything else it came with.

I think you probably have that backwards. I got mine free with the NP subscription offer and I definitely got all those extra paperworks. IIRC I think there was even a map for Dragon Warrior 2 with it as well.

I can't even remember if I bought my Dragon Warrior or got it for free. I don't remember which version I had either (I'd guess the one without the extras as I don't remeber having them) but it would seem backwards if they were selling the copy at retail with only a manual and had the freebie with all the extras.

I just checked the wiki page for Dragon Warrior and your right, it's funny that the better version with extras was the free one.

"During that year, Nintendo Power gave away free copies of Dragon Warrior to subscribers, along with a card explaining the equipment, monsters, levels, and locations. Brief mention of the subscription bonus is made in Vol. 80 of Nintendo Power."

That sounds like the auction I won a bit back - it did indeed come with extras which were from a later nintendo promotion - the auction even included the envelope that the extras came in.
