I'll second that! I wonder if this will be the swan song for the 360. I watched the trailer last night, I'm stoked for this one. The timing of the release is weird; seems like Gears games are usually 4th quarter releases...

The timing of the release is weird; seems like Gears games are usually 4th quarter releases...

This was my exact thought when I heard the release date. If they aren't releasing this during the holidays then that means that Microsoft obviously has a huge game coming out during that time frame. My guess is an as-yet unannounced new Halo game. Scoop:)

With my luck the playable characters for 4 player co-op will be Marcus, Dom, Cole, and Bitch Tits. Carmine number 3 will die during our mission. Baird will get killed and I'm gonna RAGE.

You think Gears would have good enough story telling to kill of a main char? heh if anyone Cole NEEDS to die, he makes Gears such a joke.

Um....that comes out this year, not 2011. They will never release a Gears and Halo game during the same holiday season for fear that they will cut into each others sales. Gears 3 should have released holiday 2011 because Reach is releasing holiday 2010. But it's not so that means Microsoft has something else planned for holiday 2011 and it's got to be big if they would move Gears 3 out of that selling period.

Roger, I thought you meant why GoW 3 was being released Spring 2011 as opposed to Fall 2010.

I never finished the first one either. It just felt like more of the same to me, and not the type of same that I tend to want more of. Never bothered getting the second one.

I finished the first one; it was okay. Almost a year from when I last posted in this thread, and I still haven't played part two, which has been sitting on my shelf for ages (bought it cheap at a yard sale, so no big loss if I never get around to playing it).

I guess beyond the graphics, I just didn't find the first game to be that impressive: short single player, mediocre multiplayer (I'm not that big of a MP fan anyway) and an absolutely bare-bones storyline. The older I get, the further I move away from GoW/Halo/CoD-type games. I need more than run-shoot-splat-rinse-repeat nowadays.

I didn't care too much for the first Gears either. I played through it once, beat it, and then never touched it again. Didn't like the multiplayer at all.

But when Gears 2 came out a friend convinced me that I had to try it, and I must say it was a much better game than the first one. The story wasn't necessarily all that much deeper, but it just seemed to play better. The co-op was a lot of fun, and the online multiplayer was greatly improved by the addition of Horde mode. I spent many hours playing Horde with my friends, and it was a blast.

I'm looking forward to Gears 3, especially since they announced 4 player co-op.

A bunch of friends and I are all set to go. This will be the game that tides us over until Battlefield 3 (Oct. 25). 4-player co-op is always a blast, and I predict many hours in Horde mode. Can't wait.

Anyone picking this up soon?

I preordered mine on amazon last week so that I could get the free $20 game credit back. You also get some other playable character skin but I could care less about that. After playing the beta I am so ready to play the online multiplayer modes, especially horde 2.0. I even enjoy running thru the campaign multiple times, first by myself and then in co-op on the hardest difficulty. Starting Tuesday evening when I get home from work this game will be taking up all of my time until MW3 and Halo: CE Anniversary come out.

The glowing reviews haven't made the last few days an easy wait. Super stoked to play Gears 3, and I felt only so-so about the the previous two games. I'm actually interested to see how the story plays out.

On Amazon we got a stupid Locust multiplayer skin so Best Buy is what you want. I have to work there tomorrow for my job so I'll see if I can grab one of the Baird codes for you. No promises though.

Sadly I could not get you a code Eternal as there were none to be found in the store. From what I could gather they were only emailing them this time instead of the cards they sometimes have in stacks on release day. Your best bet would be what you originally intended to do: trade with someone who got theres from Best Buy.

It took me alittle over two hours to get thru the first Act and I'm loving it so far. I'm still going to have to go back for more collectibles. I also tried versus multiplayer and the new horde mode. Horde 2.0 is much tougher than the last version and you really need all five people to get thru the boss battles. We lost a dude on wave 10 but even with five people we didn't pass the first few times. But the game has been very addictive so as expected it will be what gets the majority of my gaming time for the next month or so. Epic did a really nice job with the last of their trilogy.

Haven't tried 1 player yet (waiting to play co-op) but the multiplayer is fun as ever. Definitely my favorite 360 game since COD4.

And much like the first Halo trilogy, they made sure to kill off a few major players as a way of saying "this story arc is trurly over". Now it's time to go back for some co-op, multiplayer and more achievements.

There are no spoilers. People usually die in the last part of a trilogy. Also go see Star Wars: Return of The Jedi and The Matrix Revolutions. This is nothing new.

I'm enjoying the game. The ending was a bit anti-climactic as was said earlier. I was still pleased to see how it all turned out. So now that we've finished hardcore, my brother-in-law and I are going back to work on Insane. Very aptly named, by the way. I'll never ever never get the seriously 3.0 achievement. 100,000 kills looks like a calk walk compared to this one.

Well for those who haven't bought this game yet but who have read this thread from the start they would have already learned of this story twist. Go back to page one. You will see that a few people were speculating on......wait for it.......which main character will die.
