I remember working that night at Target. My coworkers left during our 10 minute break to pick up their copies that night...the ones that hadn't taken the night off. I ended up picking mine up in the morning.
Halo 2 caused a lot of trouble in my life, which resulted in my eventually breaking it in half to prevent playing it and repurchasing it twice down the road. I met a lot of friends playing it though and had a good time.

I'll remember how it killed all the great LAN parties we used to have with Halo 1 and that it didn't top even playing Halo 1 through Gamespy Tunnel. (http://www.gamespyarcade.com/tunnel/)
Yes in fact you can still play Halo 1 through Gamespy Tunnel (http://www.gamespyarcade.com/tunnel/), go figure! Halo 1 still reigns supreme.

Not dead yet, I believe it expires at the end of tomorrow.
Or at least I hope so, spent last night downloading stuff and plan to do the same later on another Xbox before enjoying some games tomorrow waiting for things to end.

Tonight is the last night. The doomsday device goes off at 12 midnight pacific time.
I have too many fond memories of this game. It was the first game I ever went to a midnight launch for, the first game I ever played online and I have met literally hundreds of people around the world over xbox live thanks to this great game(one of the top three games of last gen).
Although I've already been playing it today, I also have to split my time between this and Burnout 3. If I can get some Star Wars: Jedi Academy in I'll play that too and ditto for Star Wars: Battlefront 2. This day came so fast and now I'll never be able to play all these Xbox classics online against real people again:( This is why the Xbox is still one of my favorite consoles of all time. It helped put the "social" aspect back into gaming that was sorely missing since the death of the arcades in the late 90's. Long live original Xbox live.

The message on the Xbox Live screen last night said that the 15th was the final day for online play and downloads (Or at least that was how I intepreted it last night). So I'm pretty sure we have through tomorrow.

And I'm pretty sure you're be staring at your tv tomorrow wondering why (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/xbox-live-says-goodbye-to-halo-2/) you can't go online with any of your original Xbox games.

I plan to have a DVD recording the last few hours. Hopefully there is some action in a entertaining game like PGR2 or the Outruns.
Never played Halo 2 online even though I own it, so no sense starting tonight.

Just checked to make sure I wasn't crazy. The Xbox Live splash screen clearly says that Xbox Live services won't be available after April 15th. To me, that means that services will remain available through the 15th.
So I'm still unsure when exactly it's going offline.

These guys (http://www.giantbomb.com/news/you-say-goodbye-i-say-halo/1954/) will be live streaming the last two hours and I'm sure some other sites will cover it as well.

So goodbye Halo 2
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough
Back to the howling old owl in the woods
Hunting the horny back toad
Oh I've finally decided my future lies
Beyond Halo Twoooo-oooooo-ooooo...

I bought Halo 2 at a midnight launch, back in 2004.
I remember that night vividly because Bob Mueller, our local ABC news anchor was standing in line directly front of me, and I remember talking to him about Half-Life 2 (which was coming out about 2 weeks after). It surprised me to learn that he was a hardcore gamer.
He bought 3 copies - one for his kid, one for one of the employees at Channel 2 (Nashville's ABC affiliate), and one for himself.
As for Halo 2, I think I played it online twice... I'm just not that big of an online multiplayer gamer.

I'm getting bored of downloading things and am taking a break before finishing up before 3AM.
Can Xbox disc drives be replaced without affecting your DLC? I bought this one used last year as a spare since I expected this would be happening, and it hasn't gotten much use at all until the last few hours. It doesn't sound especially healthy and it was just stuttering a bit with the intro movie to Links 2004. Isn't the disc since it didn't do that last night on my original Xbox that I play on.
Hope I didn't just waste 10 dollars on the PGR2 booster packs for use as a spare.

I'll definitely be recording my final moments. There's over 10,000 online compared to 800 a couple nights ago.

I think as long as the hard drive is fine you should be good.

Still online as of a couple minutes ago. If it's ending when The 1 2 P says it is, they're late. Wanted to be the last person online in PGR2 but it's getting late, Hopefully it's still up later today.

Still online as of an hour ago. Figured I was right. I didn't see why they'd explicity state when your accessing the XBL blade on the dashboard that it was going away after the 15th if it was going to be ending at 3AM on the 15th...

I was able to get back online in Halo 2 an hour ago. Burnout 3? Not so much. That might have been EA's call though because I also checked Jedi Academy and got into a match. I wonder if the Burnout servers went down at 3 am est.

I think EA quietly turned off some of their Xbox titles in recent weeks. Battlefield 2 Modern Combat has been offline as well in the several days leading up to the XBL closure coming up in a few hours. I don't believe it was ever slated for being discontinued in any of their public notices and was still working back in February.
I suspect Jedi Academy is a similar situation and hasn't just gone offline over the past 24 hours.

It's offline, they must've shut it down at 12:00AM. Was online a few hours ago.
Edit - Looks like there wasn't much to record. I suspected since Xbox Live was just a matchmaking service that people could continue playing even after the end (Outside of the EA titles that used EA servers and not player hosting) and it appears that just that has went on.
People are still playing a few games like Halo 2 that were online before the end and haven't disconnected, since Xbox Live is just needed to reach a server and isn't necessary once you're in one and playing.
Would be nice to see the hacking community restore XBL functionality someday like we've seen with a few Dreamcast titles.

Well, it's 3:08 am on April 16th and I'm still playing Big Team Battle. Only 90 or so people left online.
