I'm thinking about selling my Virtual Boy collection since I never really use it, but I'm not really sure how much this stuff all goes for(especially the factory sealed games). I was thinking of selling it all in one lot, but would that affect what I could get for everything by a large amount? Everything is in excellent condition too. Any help would be appreciated.

System complete in box with pack in game Mario's Tennis
AC Adapter set(complete in box)

North American games(all complete unless noted otherwise):
Mario Clash
Mario's Tennis(pack in with system)

I think in most cases we tend to sentimentalize the value of our own collections, so as a rule the market would disappoint you, if you chose to sell the whole thing in one lot. By breaking it up, individuals can focus in on exactly what they need, but pay a more premium price for the convenience. Make sense?

How much more would the premium prices bring me, $20 more? $100? Knowing how much the difference would be would greatly help me decide which way I'd prefer to sell everything.

Thats where it depends on the buyer and the games being sold. If you've got the 'money' games then selling them solo works out better in that favor for you. But then you're potentially left with a bunch of games that arn't as desired and are more common, that may now just sit in that trade box for a while.

Selling as a lot can hurt final value. The bigger the lot the smaller the group of interested parties becomes. Smaller lots tend to work better (so in your case, a Japanese lot and a US lot would probably work) because it opens up the number of interested parties without it being 'too expensive'. Your chances of selling it for a good value depends on the games included. A few choice/rare games will power the lots.

The other thing is that selling individually slows the sales down, where a lot will take care of it in one or two sales. Do you need this done fast? Individual sales will not be the way to go.

I have a rough idea for what I'd ask for the lot, but I wanted to see if that was too high or too low. I also wondered if sealed games were worth way more than complete copies or if the value was pretty much the same. Sealed Genesis games aren't worth too much more compared to complete copies, yet NES games are(I've seen a sealed Super C sell for close to $300). I'm just asking now because there's someone local who was interested in it, I'm not really desperate to sell this all.

So nobody has a rough idea what this would be worth together as a lot? If this was on your local craigslist what type of offer would you send?

If I had to guess I'd say $200~300. I don't think any of the games are the expensive ones (isn't it the US version of Jack Bros that goes for money?), but the fact that everything is CIB makes it worth a bit more.

[edit: didn't see you had a few factory sealed games. no idea on their worth.]

A game only copy of Wario Land can fetch $20 easily. I'm not sure what your lot would be worth as a whole but you could check out completed listings on eBay to get a general idea what loose games are worth, at least. Also, If you want to sell then your prices will depend on how fast you want to sell everything.

I appreciate both of your replies, they've given me an idea about what to ask for the lot. I'd prefer to sell everything together as it would be way easier and not too many people have the console itself so it would be more time consuming to sell the games individually compared to SNES or Genesis games. I'm considering selling everything as I never use it, but at the same time if I would rather keep everything unless I got a really good offer for it all. There's a local collector who's currently looking for a system so I wanted to know what to ask for everything. I pretty much thought $300 would be fair for the lot, but wasn't sure if the sealed games would really make the value much higher or if I somehow overvalued everything as it's been years since I've bought any Virtual Boy stuff. If those sealed games were somehow worth $100+ each I would sell those games separately while bundling the rest together.

I would check on ebay but you have to be registered to search completed auctions. Since I don't buy or sell anything using ebay and don't plan to I don't feel the need to register with it. I haven't seen any sealed games listed either so I'm not sure if searching there would help me anyway.

I've also checked http://www.videogamepricecharts.com/ but wasn't sure how accurate it was. The used price for Wario Land is listed at $15 but the new price is listed at $224.99, which is a very big difference. I have no idea what that new price is based on, maybe it's just a listing that didn't sell. There's also no way to check if a game's selling price was affected by it being loose or complete, plus I've found some inaccuracies with the web site. Specifically with Snatcher, it's listed at $62 used as that's the cheapest price on Amazon, but that's actually a copy of Policenauts that someone listed as Snatcher to get more views.

Ok then. I'm checking the completed listings for you. Here's the prices of some games that ended recently, What new copies are available for right now or what I'd imagine they're worth.

Mario Clash - $15 Loose, $30 Complete
Mario Tennis - $2 (Fair price for one in good shape)
Panic Bomber - Loose: $10. Complete $20.
Red Alarm - A sealed copy ended for $25 in an auction.
Teleroboxer - I have no idea. Loose copies are worth $6, A box went for $4.69.
Wario Land - The general price for complete copies is $40, Two copies went for about that and another for $60 via BIN. I don't know what a sealed copy is worth.

Galactic Pinball - A new import copy ended at $24.
Jack Bros - No copies ended on eBay recently and none are on now.
Panic Bomber - New copies go for $15 max.
Teleroboxer - There's a copy on eBay for the price of $24. However, That's likely not what its worth.
Vertical Force - New copies are worth $25. A copy only with the box is worth $10.
Virtual Baseball - No idea.
Virtual Golf - A new copy is available right now on eBay for $14.80.
VTetris - Prices are all over for new copies as low as $10 and as high as $25.

Hope this helps a lot.
