POSSIBLE FF7 SEQUAL ?

In the lastest issue of EGM they printed a rumour. Which GOD help me
I hope is true. That there will be a sequal to FF7. The only problem
it won't be for the Playstation, but instead for The Playstion Portable.
Which from the stats sounds like it's going to kick GBA's ass. For it will use
both cart and UMD 2.4 optical secured rom with a 1.8 GB capasity.
Capable of delivering MPEG 4 video and 3D polygons usings NURBS
PCM Sound USB 2.0 port and Sony's memory stick and a rechargable
battery

Vicious false rumor. Started quite some time ago and Square hasn't entirely put the idea out of mind, but instead stated that doing a sequel for 7 would be totally different from doing X-2 because they would need to re-code and re-design the entire game from the ground up, unlike X-2 where they used the same engine and renders from before.

Highly unlikely. Very highly unlikely. Sorry.

Why would they need to build it from the ground up? They could use the same graphics and engine they used with FF-7, since it's going to be on the PSP anyways, and not the PS2.

Its like this, Final Fantasy 7 had and still has so many fanboys, they could take the EXACT game, make NO changes, toss it in a PS2 case, and it would sell millions. It's just the nature of the Final Fantasy series.
