Hey everyone.

I'm trying to find information about a GBA cartridge for which there doesn't seem to be a lot of information online, which I managed to snag for my collection.

It's the Zelda: Minish Cap Demo cartridge.

Normal Minish Cap cart: http://i43.tinypic.com/ioq0sj.jpg

Someone's video of the demo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6Tb2Yg-cOU

As you can see from the video, it's not just another Not for Resale cartridge, but is instead a completely different ROM that lets you play in one of three areas from the game.

I've read several things about it, I'm hoping someone here will be able to answer these questions.

1. Is it true that it's the only gameboy advance demo cartridge that has a rom different from the release version?

2. Where's it from? I ask because there seems to be a THIRD cartridge (http://lanpartyguide.com/zelda/mcap_nfrs.jpg) - a standard Not For Resale version. I don't see why there would be two different NFR carts - if Nintendo sent these things to stores, wouldn't they all be the same? How were these two versions distributed?

Any info would be appreciated.

Yeah, there are two different versions of the Not For Resale cart. One contains the normal full game, while the second (with the DEMO) contains selectable segments. And from what I've seen, the DEMO version is much more scarce than the other one.

The only other GBA cart that is specifically a demo, and different from the retail release is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, which skips the personality test and starts you off as a Pikachu.

Interesting. Does the Pokemon one have a different label?

I'm wondering if the demo version was for events like E3. For more recent Zelda games like Spirit Tracks, I know that there was a 3-stages demo at E3, but when I played one in a store it was a full version.

As far as I know, the Pokemon one just has the NOT FOR RESALE tag on it.

The demo version of Zelda Minish cap was generally used in the in-store kiosks to demonstrate the game. The full version NFR was given out to gamestop managers and is more common than the demo version. I would imagine that the full version could have been used in kiosks too.

And of course the plug for my NFR cart website :)

Nearly 160 bucks, apparently.

That's just a BIN that some idiot hopes some sucker will stumble into. I would price it much lower, at probably 40-50 bucks, which is about par for most other GBA NFR carts.

I'd check out your local Gamestop... that's where I picked up mine, for the same price as a used standard copy of Minish Cap.

Hey I would tend to disagree in this case. Yes, most NFR carts range from $20-$50 according to which game it is, but in this case (unlike other NFR carts) this is not the full version and makes it worth a bit more.

As it is one of the only GBA NFR carts that is NOT the complete version I would say closer to $75 or $80.

That one auction linked above had a not-for-resale box as well.

How much would that be worth?

I agree that the cart is probably worth around $50. I sold one a couple months ago for $45 and I saw another auction recently that went for $53, if I remember correctly. I've never seen one go for much higher than that.

Edit: To answer the previous question, the display box probably isn't worth much. Maybe $10? It's just a box that the stores used to advertise the game. The NFR cart never came in any type of box

Out of curiosity, is there a list of the GBA NFR carts and which ones are actually demos?

Checking links in sigs?! Impossible (btw, thanks for the heads up. That's exactly what I wanted)

I have this demo. My copy doesn't have a display box but a display glossy insert instead. I believe that maybe rarer, I'm not for sure. Check out the pictures. What's the worth with the glossy picture?
