I didn't see a thread for this, so I thought I'd start one. Did anyone pick up the new XBLA game "Final Fight: Double Impact"?
It's actually a collection of two classic Capcom arcade games, Final Fight and Magic Sword. The games have been upgraded to HD, 2 player online co-op, remastered soundtracks (along with the originals) and a vault of unlockable extras.
At 800 points, this game is a winner. Been playing Final Fight with my buddy and it feels like old times. I love a good beat 'em up.
My only gripe is minor, but why did they have to call this collection "Final Fight: Double Impact" when Magic Sword has nothing to do with Final Fight. I guess the name Final Fight would sell more copies, but I think it should have been called "Capcom: Double Impact" or something along those lines.
Anyway, go get it! And my XBL name is LoonieMan if you want to play sometime.

Is Maki in this game or what? And why show Cody in his SFA3/SSF4 outfit?

I found a better image and replaced it. The one you were commenting on was probably fan made and didn't reflect the game. No, Maki is not in it, this is Final Fight 1 and Magic Sword.

I bought the game on PSN as I was under the impression this was PS3 exclusive. Guess I was wrong. But, if anyone wants to play I'm Psygnosis8 on PSN as well!

I love me some beat em ups and have played Final Fight to death over the years. I tried the demo and, so far, it is pretty much what you expect..Final Fight Arcade/Magic Sword. I have never played too much of Magic Sword so for minute differences I couldn't really say so far. As for FF, you have the different viewing options as well as different "smoothing" options. Only thing that was a letdown was the horrible remixed soundtrack for Final Fight. *sigh* Nothing can touch the great Sega/Mega CD remix soundtrack...

Awh, I was kinda hoping for bonus outfits and characters.
Game seems pretty neat, but I think I have both on Capcom Classics. A step in the right direction however, definitely above a bare bones port.

Hey, this game's remixed music isn't THAT bad...

I'm tempted since it's such a cheap download...but I've got both game on several different compilations; there's nothing really new with this. If maybe both games were redone ala Bionic Commando...so yeah. I think I'll pass on this one.

The best Easter egg I love about this mini-compilation, is if you reach a certain score on the final level of Final Fight. You unlock an episode of the original USA Studios' "Street Fighter" from 1997, entitled, "Final Fight" from Season 2.

I'm pretty disappointed that "hard" mode is nothing more than a couple of less lives and higher enemy damage, but still unlimited continues and no score reset on continue, how exactly that makes it "hard" I have no idea. Other than that complaint and that the remix soundtrack is pretty lame it's cool. I like the screen and resolution options and online and all is great idea.

Doesn't continuing in Final Fight add a number at the last two digits of your score like most CPS2 and on Capcom games? If so, it'll null the bragging rights from credit feeders.

... That's exactly like hard mode on arcade was, dude. Less lives, higher enemy damage.
And Xexyz is right, the last two digits in your score is the amount of times you've continued.

Im not much of a Final Fight fan, but I can give this a go if I can play with others online.
But my friends list is kinda pathetic at the moment for both consoles. LOL
Played this for a bit tonight and the co-op ran extremely smooth, only problem was my partner kept on getting hit by the enemies I threw. I wasn't terribly impressed with the Turtles in Time rehash, so it's nice to have a good classic co-op game available to play. I wouldn't mind playing a quick game from time to time, so feel free to add me and hit me up anytime you want to play.

Hopefully we'll see more Capcom arcade compilations like this. The video options and GGPO netcode in these games are long overdue.

Wouldn't 100 credits mean you score 100 points? If 00 was at the end of the score then you could deny ever having to credit. I've always liked arcades that would always reset on continue. It's still exploitable even when adding numbers to the score.

hopefully it stops at 99.... but I really don't know.

The leaderboards still list how many lives and credits you used, so you wouldn't escape "looping" the end of the score that way...

I think I'll pick this one up. I use to play the SNES version of Final Fight all the time and played Magic sword in the arcade alot too.

Bought this the other day. I freakin hate the El Gado (The dudes with knives), they're so annoying. Otherwise, I love using Guy.

I haven't been on these forums in almost a year, but I saw this topic and decided to drop in and give my love for Final Fight: DI, which is totally worth the $10 investment. Hoping Capcom puts out more of their classic brawlers on XBLA.

The games have been upgraded to HD,
Marketing drivel, aside from the cabinet-view version which indeed looks awesome.
I didn't see any screenshots that looked as bad as Super Contra's treatment on XBLAH though.

Just picked up this game on PSN since it's on sale for $5 and I had money left from a previous transaction of months passed.
The game is ok, but for some reason I enjoyed Magical Sword more. It's easier for some reason to play, and I unlocked the Ninja trophy relatively quickly.
Still, it's a great purchase for those who like DLC. Only reason I got it was because I had around $6 left over so I decided to go for it. I'm happy too...specially since it's so cheap!
