I was curious if anyone has ever done this? I prefer the 360 controller and would like to convert one I have to use on my original Xbox.

They're both USB as far as I know with just the Xbox using a physically proprietary port. So I presume it's probably fairly easy to accomplish?

Better yet, has anyone attempted to mod a wireless controller using the USB reciever MS sells for using a 360 wireless controller on a PC? Would love to be able to do that.

I think my brother tried doing this, claimed the controller lit up, then just shut down.

he was wondering if *they* used a chip that only did USB 2.0 (original is only usb 1.1)

Xbox 360 controllers have an authentication scheme as well, which is probably what is interfering with using it on the Xbox. There is probably no easy way to use it on an xbox - I know there are adapters that will let you bypass that authentication and use it on a ps3, but don't know if that would work for the xbox as well
