Nice top 20 (games that you own) - just about all of them are excellent games.

Should I make a new video? I got some new games today and my top 20 is now different.

I love arcade type gameplay. The number one reason I am a dedicated retro gamer. This is what got me hooked on the Genesis in those early years of the 16-bit generation of gaming. I got mine before the SNES ever hit the store shelves. Long time fan. Really, it was the shooters that first hooked me on the system. Hellfire was my first game purchase.

I am very surprised that the Vectorman series has only been casually mentioned. It is a nice run, jump, shoot, collect, type game. So Vectorman games you might want to check out, there are two in the series. And if you like a good arcade racer, Outrun is a very good arcade to console translation. Aladdin is another very good platformer. It is very different from the SNES one, better, IMHO. "Chuck Rock 2: son of chuck" is a very good little platformer. And if you can handle a Japanese flavored game "Dynamite Headdy" might be worth checking out. Very different and unusual. And I know it is only a matter of personal taste in gaming I I have always like "Kid Chameleon." But the frustration about that game is that there are no save points at all!

Some great games have already been mentioned here. Ranger X is really a nice ride. I second the games that have been list in this thread.

edit: Wait a minute, X-Men 2 was also a good game to consider. And lets not forget "Zombies Ate My Neighbors!!!"

I don't like Vectorman, I have the first one. Its just so ridiciously hard to control. Outrun is one of the new games that I got that I mentioned before it is pretty fun. Aladdin is also one of the new games I got, Its in my top 20 for sure. Never even heard of Chuck Rock 2 so. I don't think i would like Dynamite Heady. Kid Chameleon is another new game I got that I mentioned before I like it. Ranger X, yet another one of the new games that i got, lol did you look at a list or something heh, I just don't like how you have to hit buttons to change the direction you are facing. X-Men 2 is yet another one.... I also like it. Zombies Ate my Neighbors is another game that looks like I wont like it.

Zombies ate my neighbors is absolutely outstanding! Others I like that probably weren't mentioned on here. Death Duel, very fun arcade style game. Outlander, madmax type, part spent driving and part spent walking, I like it!

I'd have to say my current absolute favorite game for the Genesis is Thunder Force III. Some other great games would be Streets of Rage and Bio-Hazard Battle.

Top 20 games I own for the Genesis. Castlevania Bloodlines and Sword of Vermilion. I only own two Genesis games.

I must say Sunset Riders has one of the best soundtracks I have heard on the Genesis.

Ironically, I know many that pissed off Sword of Vermillion, yet it was a fantastic game (for me). I loved every minute of it, and though a bit tedious at times, it was great playing the game through.

Oh, and the music was, and still is, outstanding! :)

Any games like Sunset Riders and Rolling Thunder 2? Besides Rolling Thunder 3 because I already know about that.

I like it also. Even with its extreme difficulty I thought it was enjoyable to play.

Contra, Gunstar Heroes, Ranger X, Doom Troopers, Alien Soldier (PAL / Japanese only however; I don't have a copy myself), Robocop vs. Terminator, very vaguely speaking the Shinobi games when played with shuriken...and a handful of movie license games I suppose; there are others I can't remember.

Gosh, I thought I knew this genre better...anyway, those should be some of the highlights.

Sunset Riders is better on the SNES, and even better in its original arcade incarnation, by the way.

Though not Genesis related this is to give you an idea of what type of games I like.

But I don't mean just normal Side Scrolling shooting, I mean with the whole being able to jump up to another level mechanic, seriously look at Sunset Riders and Rolling Thunder 2 to see what i am talking about.

I'd have to say my current absolute favorite game for the Genesis is Thunder Force III.I'd really have to sit down and think about it if I were making a favorites list, but I know right off the bat that Thunderforce III would be in the Top 5. Great music, (starting) stage select, awesome weapons system, great boss encounters...it's just an outstanding game, IMO. It never gets old.

This is all correct.

Agreed on everything except the bosses, although fun to fight those things go down too fast in no. 3.

Thunderforce III is too easy for me. I can beat that game like no other. It's like riding a bike, you just don't forget. It is however an EXCELLENT game.

One game that's not mentioned often, and is an AWESOME platformer that's a bit different, and has EXCELLENT music is Decap Attack! Urz you must check it out on Youtube if not buy the game. I don't think you'll be dissapointed. You'll have to sit through it a while and go through a few levels to really appreciate it.

It's highly original, has excellent graphics, good controls, and awesome wacky music. The level design is great. There's not much to hate about it.

It's a forgotten, under appreciated, undervalued gem.

What kind of a Genesis are you playing on? If you don't have a Genesis 1 (Hi def graphics model) get one! The music in games like Sunset Rider and Streets of Rage REALLY shine on them. You'll hear the Genesis pump out bass like none before it. It'll make the bass on a SNES shake at it's knees. Make sure to do the composite audio/video mod to get full stereo out of it though, or use the headphone out jack to hook it up to your stereo otherwise you'll only get mono.

Agreed on everything except the bosses, although fun to fight those things go down too fast in no. 3.Granted, the only actual tough ones are in Cerberus, and the final stage, but I'm talking about the over all encounters. The digital dossier at the beginning of the stage with the bosses name, silhouette, and weak spot. The way that the alarms sounds and the word "EMERGENCY" scrolls across the bottom of the screen (I always match it's speed and follow it with my ship). The way that the bosses go down violently (especially the G Lobster). Even that weird 'cooking' sound it makes when you shoot their weak spot. I can play through that game over and over on a single life and it's always just as fun as the time before.

Does everyone else always start their game on Seiren?

Must be nice! My memory is fine but my precision just isn't what it used to be.

And I always start on Hydra.
