So I've found a lot of information about how to clean SNES cartridges themselves, but not really a lot about cleaning the labels.

What fluids are safe to use when cleaning labels? How do you normally clean them? Any techniques?

Specifically, I guess, I've got this used A Link to the Past cart that has a very small bluish stain on it that I'd like to try and get off. There are also some scratches on the surface of the label that I'm wondering if there's any way to sort of 'buff them out' -- although I realize that this is probably impossible.

Edit: How is windex for this job? Would I damage the label in any way by doing this? I'm really having a hard time thinking of ways to clean a label that won't damage it.

I'm also in this same predicament. How do I clean and remove dirt from NES and SNES game labels safely?

I've had moderate success with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Just slightly wet a paper towel with some and gently scrub the problem area. You might want to try it on a less valuable game first to see how well it works for you.

Don't clean n64 or snes labels with a mr. clean magic eraser. Had to learn that one the hard way. Most NES games are fine to clean though. The labels are covered with a layer of plastic.

so just to make sure....We are all in agreement that the 70% Isopropyl is the right way to clean nes AND snes cart labels.

I'm about to clean my most prized possesions and I want to be sure.

thanks fellas
