Hell yeah, kinda reminds me of those SMB hacks, but better because of the powers, awesome!

It's surprisingly hard with Bill, surprisingly doable with Simon, and piss easy with Mega Man. Link is a bit awkward but Samus is fun.
A+. Now lets see if somebody can rig it to work with a control pad.

Newgrounds has always had some fun games, but this one (being a NES fan) is especially good.
I hadn't been there in awhile, so now I have more reasons to go back!
Oh man, to be 7 or 8 again ... euphoria.

I'm really surprised it took someone this long to make up this game, I've always wanted to play something like this. Awesome find.

It's kind of like Captain N: The Video Game.

Once you go Spread Shot you never go back, baby! So far the only character I've played and beaten it with.
This is kind of like those Mega Man stages on Newgrounds. You could either fight Samus or Arthur in stages pretty much ripped from their games. If you played the Metroid one first you could use the weapon in the Ghosts n' Goblins one and likewise, if you finished the Ghost n' Goblins one you could use the weapon in the Metroid. After finishing both it also unlocked Protoman for either game as well.

I too am surprised it took this long to be made, it actually being pretty polished is just the icing on the cake. Only character I didn't find it awkward to play with was Mega Man, I'm sure using a game pad would make things easier.

This is really cool. I agree, Mega Man is the best to play with. Thanks for sharing the link!

I wish we could use Kirby. The awesome thing about using Simon is throwing his axe into piles of otherwise unbreakable bricks and smashing through them. I doubt there is anything hidden but it's still fun to smash things.

All I can say is awesome, I just spend the entire night playing this.

Omg. I don't know if it's just cause I'm stoned but I'm addicted to this version of SMB.

It's infinitely better with JoyToKey. Has anybody beaten it with Simon yet? In the later levels it becomes a real pain not being able to move during the jumps. And for some reason I still have trouble with Bill despite logic telling me it should be a cakewalk.
And has anybody actually played as Mario? Because he doesn't control like the Mario we're familiar with making the game harder to play.
But since this is a Flash reproduction I can't say anything bad about it. What I'd love to see is somebody brave enough to try to reproduce this in actual NES code.

I had a blast in World 4-1 knocking Lakitu outta the sky with Samus' wave beam. Sweet revenge...!
Thanks for posting this! And yeah... somebody rebuild this with actual NES code and stick it on a NES cart. I'd buy it.

Yes, throw in Kirby, Pit, and a 2 Player mode and I'd buy a cart without batting an eye. The problem is that it would pretty much require building the entire game from scratch.
And, good lord the later levels feel like they're just plain impossible with Simon.

I'd seriously spend $50 to $60 on a nes conversion of this, cart and all, especially if it had a 2 player co-op mode.

Wow, seems like there's a lot of discrepancy over who is the real developer on Kongregate. Soon after the game came out on Newgrounds, people have been ripping it and putting it on Kongregate. The actual author has it up now, but even he is receiving flak for copying.

I could have sworn I posted in this thread the first time around.
Anyway, I enjoyed it with the original characters but I can't wait to try it with Ryu.

I find the accuracy to be particularly impressive. He's actually got the layout of all 32 stages in there - even if it was just ordinary SMB it would have been quite an accomplishment.
By the way, ROM Check Fail (http://www.farbs.org/games.html) is a must-see if you haven't tried it already. (I wonder if Mushroom Kingdom Fusion will ever reach some level of completeness?)

I agree. I realize it would require coding the game from scratch but I'd buy a copy in a heartbeat.

it could be nice if he add Nemo from Little Nemo the Dream Master.
I was going to suggest Scrooge Mc Duck from ducktales but considering he's from a licensed game........

nice..i like it..but not a huge hack fan. It's not so much a hack as it is an exceptionally accurate Flash remake with added features. (It probably wouldn't get nearly as much attention as it has if it required patching and emulation.)
I was going to suggest Scrooge Mc Duck from ducktales but considering he's from a licensed game........:roll:I cannot possibly see why the legal implications there would be a consideration at this point.

I am dreaming of the day that Master Higgins makes the lineup!! To bring the Adventure Island feel to the Super Mario Bros. world, I think the fruit life bar would have to be carried over, though. The fourth NES sequel that never made it to the USA didn't feel right without the frantic need to consume fruit while dashing ahead with reckless abandon (and let's just forget about Super Adventure Island II).

Mario's play control seems more than a little off to me as well. While it does suck, it isn't to big of a detractor since the whole novelty of the game is to NOT be Mario, but there are certain levels where you want to use old faithful instead of one of the newbies.
