I'm looking for one of those adapters to play nes games on a famicom console - I've only found one result on ebay, and it seemed a little steep. Preferably one thats not a bare pcb (or if it can be easily stuck in a famicom cartridge that would be fine)

I'm told it's not the best adapter (and most certainly not the one I use first on my Famicoms) but, you can't beat that price.

is there a reason to be worried about that particular converter? Im not sure what would be considered good or bad about it considering its just a set of traces on a pcb.

It's just what I've heard from the people over at Famicomworld. I have one, it's actually a Yobo converter before they simply made 72 pin clones rather than 60 pin ones. Personally, I've never had a problem with it, but then again, it is my third converter (and all three work fine). Since it was the cheapest, it's the one I jam my Game Genie into when I want to use that on my AV Famicom.

I'd say it's better than the bare board ones you see pop up a lot on eBay, and for some reason, sell for twice as much at that one.

There fine. The case is cheap, but if you are careful it should last a long time.

Will the StoneAgeGamer converter work with the Sharp Twin Famicom? I contacted StoneAgeGamer and they can't confirm. I am assuming it will, since the Sharp is an officially licensed Nintendo Famicom. Thanks!

It should work with any 60 pin system, clone or official. After all, it's basically a pass through adapter.

Any idea why these won't work on a Famicom AV? I was all set to buy one until I saw that.

Huh, where'd you read that? It works fine on my AV Famicom and my AV modded famicom.

Remember, it's just a passthrough adapter, there's no reason why it shouldn't work on any 60-pin system.

If you scroll down that page you linked to there is a warning about it not working on AV Famicoms.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder now if mine is the same one, or what this one is for then unless it's only for an original famicom which doesn't really make any sense since they're almost identical mainboards.

The reason it is listed as not working with the Famicom AV is because we have received a few complaints that it did not. At least not easily. I don't actually have a Famicom to test on, but instead of having to refund customers we list it as not working with the AV.

So if you have an Famicom AV buy at your own risk.

Just FYI, the Yobo converter was never intended to be used on a Famicom specifically. It was intended to be used on the 60-pin FC Game Console before they released the USA version.
