View Full Version : "Inappropriate" stuff in classic games

I'm sure it's been done before, but I always love inappropriate stuff/sexual innuendos in the least of places (especially in games). How many innuendos have you found while playing retro video games from any console? Here's some I found (or at least I think I found)
*Playing Altered Beast for the Sega Genesis with two players, you could make the Bear form characters "hump" in stage 3.
*In Dynamite Headdy, whenever you hit Trouble Bruin, it sounds like he says "Boobs". I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be "Oops" but every time I swear that's what he's really saying.
*Toad sprite flips you off (if you look really closely) in "Super Mario Brothers" for the NES/Famicom.
*The pilot episode of the NES classic "Battletoads" game features a LOT of misleading/innuendoish scenes. A few include the mountains looking like penises, one of the Toads appearing to play with his breasts whilist saying "My hands, my hands", and the Dark Queen "raping" the princess for a split second.

in Zelda: a link to the past when you push on something Link gets this strained look and kinda thrusts forward. we used to get a kick about going behind Zelda and haveing him attempt to "push" her.

In guardian heroes on the saturn, if you block with Genjirou, it looks like he's flipping you off.
but i'm fairly sure that's a dagger or something.

The logo for Naughty Dog in Rings of Power (Genesis) has a topless woman if you hold down A-B-C-Down-Right-Start.

The top down stages in Contra 3 made me laugh.
You could press that lay-down button and hump each other.
lol.

Isn't a sex scene heavily implied in Golgo 13 Top Secret Episode? I haven't played that game in awhile.

Nothing too bad, but the Plant Boss at the end of Stage 2 of Joe and Mac (SNES) sounds like it's saying "DAMN!" every time you hit it.
Also, the Village Elder at the end of each level of Prehistorik Man, if you don't bring enough food says "That's not good enough, Sam! Damned pathetic, really! You must do better, we need that food!"
I think the GBA version is changed to Darned, but I can't remember, and have yet to see what is says on the DSiWare version.

Not nearly as bad as this SFC game:

Don't forget Smurfette's going topless in Smurf: Rescue In Gargamel's Castle on the ColecoVision. It's just a sprite error but there were people in gaming magazines telling you how you could gaze at her faux-topless-ness for more than just a split-second.

How about having the option to "Take Off" or "Get Off" when landing the Epoch in Chrono Trigger? (I always choose to get off.)

Hmmm most of that stuff is pretty weak. How about Terarin, the final boss from the Master System game Miracle Warriors? A bit better than making Contra guys rape each other.

The Altered Beast one isn't an innuendo. That's you just being perverted ;) There's a difference. And given the rest, I'd have to say that's probably the same thing happening with the rest of the list (your perverted perception of things). It's cool though :)

Haha, I remember that. Though, it was funny for the edges of the levels or castle roofs too. He really did have this evilish look of determination in his eyes, when he was doing said motion :D

There was a Japanese Turbo Grafx 16 platform game about a photographer that had to take pictures of events while avoiding running into objects. I remember one of the stages being set in Harlem (I believe) and had a TON of racist African American stereotypes. You haven't seen offensive content until you have seen this stage:eek 2:

On the note of stereotyping, half the fun in Punch-Out is seeing the ethnic stereotypes of every character. From the glass-jawed, wimpy Frenchie to the scary black man from Philadelphia and the stardom-obsessed bodybuilder from California.
I was especially surprised when, rather than toning these aspects down, the Wii version of Punch-Out cranked them up even more.

Hahaha, I'm glad this topic has surfaced as I can finally ask a gaming question regarding pixel breasts without coming off as being 'odd'.
Which Arcade basketball game is it in which a woman flashes her top half to you, in the crowd?
The screen/playing area features only one basket, with 3 of the 4 sides of the basketball crowd/stadium visible around the pitch/court? (At least in the demo mode it does)
It's one I saw years ago at an amusement park which I've never been able to identify.
