I was curious what people thought of these games.

I know that Epidemic is the sequel to Kileak and that Brahma Force is an unrelated game, but all three games had a similar sci-fi Mech flavor and were developed by Genki.

I remember when the Playstation launched and seeing Kileak on display at my local Best Buy. At the time I thought it looked incredible but that was the only time that I saw it and something tells me it would be much less impressive these days.

I have never seen or played Epidemic. Last night I came across Brahma Force for 7 bucks and picked it up. I played it for a few minuets to try it out and it seems really cool, although pretty tough.

So how are the first two games? Are they worth picking up? Do they offer anything different than Brahma Force or are they pretty much the same thing?

Kileak is worth it if you find it for less than $10. Its got creepy music and sharp contrasts between the lights on the cieling and the dark ends of the corridor, which makes it feel like you're really walking around a prison at night. Also, when enemies are nearby, there's a warning indicator that beeps. That way you know an enemy is gonna pop out at you any second, or when you open that door, etc. Some may find this annoying, but I think it contributes to a sense of tension.

While the game is pretty good with immersion, there are some flaws. The level design isn't fantastic, and most of the rooms throughout the game all look the same. Thankfully the game automaps or you'd get lost quicly, that doesn't stop the whole experience from getting kind of stale after a couple levels of this. The other issue I have is that the puzzles are very esoteric and complicated, and if you miss something or fuck something up, you'll be running up and down the halls for hours, getting nowhere. Its rather frustrating. I actually had to stop playing because I got stuck when playing it a year ago, and amazingly, there is no faqs/walkthroughs that I could find on gamefaqs or anywhere else. I guess nobody with the ability to write an faq felt the game was worth doing so.

I haven't played or seen epidemic myself, but id really like to try it. Kileak is on to some really interesting in terms of ambience, and if they fixed some of the gameplay elements it could be a pretty cool game, though not for everyone.

Awesome! Sounds similar in tone to Iron Angel of the Apocalypse, which I loved.

This sounds like the game mechanic used in Enemy Zero, except the enemies in Kileak are visible I assume. But sounds awesome nonetheless.

I know my local Game-X-Change has a copy. Sounds like I'll have to pick it up next time I am there. Thanks for the detailed description!

I'm actually just kind of excited anybody else in the world gives a shit about this game. While not perfect, I think it's kind of underrappreciated. I almost started a thread about it but didn't for some reason, so thanks for starting one!

Whenever I boot up Brahma Force I always have one impression afterwards: no analogue support. Really, this game is quite decent otherwise, as far as first-person type games go, but the whole concept is dying for DualShock(analogue) support and my interest beyond that really lacks sadly. Definitely worth a go though.

Wow! Never thought I'd see these games being discussed. Awesome.

I didn't care for Kileak or Epidemic. They were both rather difficult and inane. With incredibly bad level design.

Now Brahma, that's a kick ass game. And it's actually got a fine storyline too, and a good share of decent voice acting. The HUD design is also a lot more immersive, makes you feel like you're in the mech. You'll never thinking about Tactics Mode G-11 the same way again.

Another trilogy fan here!

I played BRAHMA Force, then Kileak, then Epidemic. Kileak is the weakest & oldest (launch title IIRC) & short. I liked Epidemic but if you die in a level you have to start it over- I wasted a whole hour one time that way. But your upgraded mech has a cool-looking blue laser gun w/ the coolest sound I've ever heard for a video game weapon.

Also, if you can find a Hip Gear Ps/PS2 controller, (it's black & a bit bigger that a Sony DualShock 2) the left stick works for any older PS games that dont originally use the sticks. I played Final Doom, Diablo, & several others that way.
