I am moving over to the Middle East for a year or so and since I'm a member here I obviously can't live without my video games. I figured I'd bring my PS3 games over there (no Xbox/wii hate just more of a backlog), but that lead me to a bunch of questions about the console which I figured one of you might know.

I have an original 60 GB PS3.

Can I just swap the power cord to get mine to work (had to ask...)
Do wireless controllers for the US version work on the international versions?
Hard Drives... I have an upgraded 320gb HD in my PS3, can I take that out of the US PS3 and will it work in an international PS3? or can I back up the US HD to an external HD and update the international one?
Are the AV cables the same for the international and US versions?
Any software problems (I know the disc are supposed to be region free)
Any good places/advice on buying an international PS3?

Assuming it is too much of a hassle to bring my US version over there and hook it up to a transformer you will probably see a WTB in the WTB section, but wanted to ask here first.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

all ps3's are region free, i dont know the voltage used in the middle east but i guess u can just get a step up/step down converter and you'd be ok, all wireless controllers are region free

so i guess just keep your system and hd intact pretty much....yup?

I live in the US and I have a Korean PS3.

I can confirm that the PS3's power supply is universal, all I had to do was swap the power cord and I was good to go. I've used the included Dual Shock 3 with my friend's US PS3 and it synched fine. Hard drives and AV cables, I can't say for sure, but I can't imagine there would be regional incompatibility.

PS3 games are region free. PS1/ PS2 games and DVDs are region locked. Some Blu Ray discs are region locked but many are not, it's up to the publisher. Also, I'm pretty sure firmware updates are region specific, I haven't bothered to update mine yet but that's what I've read.
