Hi everyone I'm new to the forums and was wounding if you could help me.

I have three model 2 Sega Genesis and I was planing on doing a LED mod and composite video mod on one of them.

LED mod: I was thinking of changing the LED from Red to blue, but I'm having trouble finding what type of LED to use so I don't break anything

Composite video mod: I found a pretty useful video on youtube to help me out with that.

so if this has already been answered can you please post the link to the thread since I'm having trouble using the search on the forums any help would be appreciated thanks.

Thank you oldskool for the link's I would do the S-video mod but I don't own any TV's that have s-video so I'm stuck with Composite.

Hey no problem. I have had those two links saved in my favorites for quite some time now.

Oh I understand. Maybe do both S-Video and Composite for when you get a TV with S-Video.

You know what, I just realized the first link is for a Genesis 1, and you have Genesis 2 models. The second link may work for you still. You should pick up a Model 1 sometime, they are the best versions - especially if you get the "High Definition Graphics" version.

I do have a model 1 with the hd logo on the top but I really like that one since its harder to find them then the model 2(picked one up for $6.00) but once I do the mods and every thing works i'll post some pics.

Yeah I am interested in seeing your results. I plan on doing some mods to mine as well, using those links. I also plan on doing a US/JAP region switch, it looks easy enough.

looks good. makes me want to do that to my sega. if i do that mod to mine, i would also have to fix or replace the power connector on the main board and try to fix the reset button since i would have it apart.

I've fixed many of those reset buttons. Usually it just kind of falls out of place. Easy fix.

thanks for the info. it has been like that for over 5 years. if i had known it was such a simple fix i might have tried to fix it years ago.

Yeah, mine was like that for a long time too because it didn't really bother me. If you have to reach over to hit the reset switch anyways, it's not much harder to just turn the power button off then back on.

took my sega and found out the reset switch is dead:bawling:. i am thinking about replacing it with the switch off one of my 2 broken 1st gen sega's. i did manage to fix the power connection. it was a bad connection cause some broken soder connections.

Yep I even put the RF shield back in (because I like the weight it has with it) and took a pice off the led amplifier thing since the LED is 5mm(the old red one is 3mm I think) because it was blinding.
