Ok, so I've personally seen a few ugly cabs in my day, but this one takes the cake:

What an ugly piece of shit. Obviously homemade. Oh and how 'bout this one?

Anyway, feel free to post pics of poorly constructed arcade cabinets so we may laugh at them.

Hmm, that Neo looks like a fuckered up 720. And the crapmame page has made the rounds here a couple times.
Ugly commercial cabs is a subject that rarely comes up, Xenophobe, most classic cabaret cabinets and the gold Neo Geo machine are the ones I think of first in that category.

Arf.
...there's just something wrong about an arcade machine with no marquee on top.

Yeah, I've seen a gold Neo cab on feepay before. Pretty ugly. (I'm a crazy user of oxymorons) I'm pretty sure it's a "reverse candy cab". That means you have to stand on the stool to actually play. Or, you could just become Shaq.
Edit: This reminds of a Xenophope converted into a UMK3. Yes, it looked like dog crap.

I agree about the cabarets looking fugly. The wood grain is kind of tacky. Maybe if I was the kind of person who thought wall paneling was tight, then I could appreciate it.
If more minis came with artwork, I might actually prefer them over a standard cab. There was once this most amazing berzerk cabaret that had beautiful artwork. I think it was a rare Australian mini.

I always thought any game with a projection TV was sort of ugly.

That and who has the room for these? Didn't the manufacturers stop and think "Hey, this would be impossible to fit in a house"? The only thing worse would be a projection game covered in faux wood. Ugh.

That Metal Slug is definitely 720, you can tell by the base. (I've scooted mine around enough times to recognize it.) That's a damn shame.

Yeah, projection Tv's on cabs look bad. Anyway, I always thought that showcase cabs always had an ugliness to them. I'm more of a candy cab guy.

Oof. I have to wonder that was the guy's first cabinet restored...or, I guess more likely some operator who just didn't give a damn. Doesn't make sense to me when so many Neo Geo units came prewired anyway.

Also, I think we haven't yet seen a really "ugly cabinet" until the Liberal Democrats join with another party to form a coalition! ;P (Nothing against the Lib Dems, of course.)
