Hey, I'm looking into getting a multitap for the SNES but online all I'm seeing is 3rd party ones. Does anyone have any experience with these? Any particular ones that seem to work well?

Erm, this is because there never was a true first party multitap (at least not to my recollection). If you want the "original" SNES multitap, get the Hudson one.

I bought a new Hori Super tetris 3 multitap from Play-asia in 2008. It works well and is of very good build quality. The only thing I can think of to watch out for in multitaps is that while most add 4 controller ports, there are some which add 5, making for totals of 5 and 6 controller ports respectively. I think there is only 1-2 games that support 6 controllers so it shouldn't matter.
Mine has seen a bit of use with NBA Jam TE and Super fire pro wrestling, I can't find many multitap games in PAL land.

What might those games be? I haven't discovered a 6 player SNES game yet, though oddly, there is a multitap (or two?) that supports up to 6 controllers.

There are some games that support 5 players, but no licensed games that support 6 players. There is a homebrew game that supports 8 players.

I was sure there was a long list with a single 6-player SFC game out there somewhere but a quick google proves otherwise. I must have been thinking of the homebrew title, N-warp Daisasuken. Though that apparently does 8 players. That wikipedia list looks like it's missing some imports so there is hope we will one day find a game to solve the mystery of the extra controller port!
Keep up the obscure SFC reviews, I've discovered some gems there.

I have the Hudson One. It's probably the best. Don't know how much it goes for since i had it since it came out.

Thanks. Ironically enough, I plan to put out a new SFC piece sometime this summer. I know it's been a while...
