While we're still being fed from the rumor mill, it's pretty much established that there's a new Mega Man project on the horizon. Capcom filed trademark for "Mega Man Universe" not too long ago, and a PDF on Capcom.jp outlining their business plans for the next year references "Mega Man Online" in their plans to expand into the online market.
I'm sure you guys know by now that I'm a huge Mega Man fan, so it goes without saying that I'm excited about this, whatever it ends up being. The speculation has ranged from MMOs to fighters to yet another crappy EXE series, but it's starting to point to the MMO prospect. It's being produced by Neowiz, a Korean MMO producer, but that's really all that's known right now.
To make things even more interesting, a promotional image has popped up, implying that it focuses on or at least involves the X series. I always envisioned an X MMO involving players making their own Reploid character and choosing a side with the Hunters, Mavericks, or outlaws, but seeing X featured prominently makes me wonder what exactly they have planned. There's a chance it could just be a crappy browser MMO, but I've still got my hopes up...

If the image isn't fake, then it's interesting to note that (1) X isn't on Earth, since Earth appears to be that planet in the sky, and (2) the art style is very round, like X4-X7, but with the proportions of X1-X3's art, which I really like.

I wonder if there's a reason they're using Phantasy Star's naming scheme?

I'm all for more X so this sounds interesting. But the name implies all the different Mega Mans will be relevant in some way.

If it means that they're ripping off the gameplay, then I'll die a happy man.

I think their marketing department might not understand the X series concept, since several of the game covers don't seem to mention X at all, instead calling him Mega Man (X8 comes to mind).

I'm hoping it's the next Mega Man Powered Up minus all the cutesy stuff.
All they have to pick a bunch of different tile sets. A bunch of enemies, items, etc, a boss, Wily Castle boss, etc. Also let us have mid bosses. Then after everything is all created, allow us to choose the graphical style. Will it be Mega Man style, Mega Man 7 style, or maybe Mega Man 8 style graphics, in which it changes everything from tiles to enemies back and forth depending on which style you choose.
Either put this on UMD and keep the same format for Mega Man Powered Up so users can search for games on the server, or put it on a Bluray/DVD and release it on the PS360. No digital download please and thank you.

This...seems like it could kick a lot of ass.

Yeah, so far, turning Mega Man games into RPGs has been a good thing. As long as Capcom doesn't pump out same sequel after same sequel, I'll be happy too.

Trailer is up... and it's the strangest thing I've ever seen.

You're not kidding. But the end was certainly excellent.

All of that told me less than nothing.

The trailer was weird and really wasn't really that interesting, but like Oobgarm said, the ending was pretty cool. Anyways. With it showing Ryu and Arthur, does this mean we're going to be able to play as other Capcom properties in Mega Man Universe?
Also, from what I read a little bit ago. Mega Man Universe and Online are two different games.

That trailer made me laugh because it reminded me of old game commercials and that show Bump in the Night.

I'm getting the message that Capcom is doing their own "Smash Bros" type game. Maybe not in the form of a fighter, but it seems to be a similar concept. Inafune has been quoted as wanting MM in Smash Bros, but Nintendo never contacted him about it. This may be their response after waiting so long.
What I got from the trailer is that Mega Man can use different powers of different characters in the Capcom universe, which is actually a pretty interesting idea for a cross over.

Absolutely loved the ending. I hope "crotchety old yellow Megaman" is an unlockable character.

Honestly, I couldn't complain if they take a lot of creative liberties here. It's obviously not canon to the series, but rather, a love letter to the fans. If they're including MM1 USA box art, I can only hope that they incorporate those terrible PAL covers as well.
I was very apprehensive at the prospect of an MMO, but I'm very comfortable with this. The more creative it is, the better.

This is probably the wrong thread, but I think I see the original 2-XL robot (8-track version) at the end of the trailer. With all of the retro robots and Mega Man stuff on the walls, it looks like my room when I was a kid...

I'm sure everyone here has tried these already, but if not, Mega Man vs Ghosts n Goblins and Mega Man vs Metroid. They play like a Mega Man stage and then with the internet cache you can use the sub weapons on the alternate flash game. Protoman is unlocked once finishing both.

Remember what should be remembered, and forget what should be forgotten.Alter what is changeable, and accept what is mutable.
I know this was spam, but it's oddly appropriate, given Inafune's recent departure...
