But if you had any interest in the game, you've probably played it already.

Played this on the PS3 but it's nice to have it on the computer. Thanks!

There are rumors going around that updates and patches won't be applied to any version of Portal received through this promotion.

I've already gotten two updates on my copy.
Valve supports all my other Steam freebies, so I don't see why they would single out Portal, especially given the fact that the only reason they're giving it away is to promote their platform and gain more users.

Yeah, as kedawa said those rumors aren't true. What you receive in this promotion is the full version of Portal, with no strings attached. You'll get any updates Valve puts out.

The people who're saying this are absolute morons. All games sold via Steam keep getting patches and updates as long as the publisher continues to exist (and doesn't abandon the product).
Valve always keeps their games up to date. ALWAYS.

I never did try out the Portal: The Flash Version (http://www.moddb.com/games/portal/downloads/portal-the-flash-version-mappack) map pack. Apparently it is so good that Valve used some of the levels for the console-exclusive expansion.

Anyone else getting that this doesn't count as a Source SDK for any of the mods even though the full version is listed as such?
