Dragon Quest V DS - Did it just go out of print or something?

So I'm looking up prices on Amazon, and I see Dragon Quest V DS in the related items a lot. The price is close to $50 now! What's the deal? I've been wanting to snag the US DQ releases, but my backlog has been keeping me from dropping the cash. Is this one going to be reprinted soon or should I hunt down a copy now?

I've noticed a lack of copies new or used in the various stores I frequent. I had several chances to pick it up but I figured I'd wait for a price drop of some kind. Course I thought that with Tetris DS as well and that disappeared. :puppydogeyes:

On a semi-related noted, DQ IV is pretty cheap right now. If you don't have that, I would suggest snapping it up.

DQ V went out of print probably six months ago. Despite this fact, it has taken stores that long to finally run through their copies. You missed the various Best Buy and Fry's price drop/clearances. Unfortunately, depending on where you live, you may have waited too long. Still even at $40 or $50 on Ebay, it's not exactly crazy pricey.

DQ V wasn't a very good seller. I had a harder time finding DQ V in stores, even when it came out. DQ IV was all over the place and I think that people got a little trigger happy with DQM and DQ IV and when they didn't sell well, retailers pulled back. The 39 buck price tag never helps things either.

Yea they are getting harder and harder to find. I saw only few unknown store still sell them brand new. Last time I went down to Fred Meyer and saw one copy left for $29.99.

You might also want to try looking for Suikoden Tierkreis as well. That one is difficult to find in store if you're looking for a new copy.

There were at least 4 or 5 at my Toys R Us, but they still have $39.99 on them.

We picked one up from Best Buy of all places for $15 in a dump bin. Weird.

I had been looking for it for awhile -- came across it at the Game Crazy/Hollywood video liquidation a few weeks ago. It was $15 or so with their clearance prices at the time.

Guess I got lucky.

Unfortunately I failed to pick up Suikoden when I had the chance.

Damn, I got my copy as soon as it came out. It's a lot of fun, didn't even think about not seeing any copies since it launched.

But yeah, what's the deal with DQIV? Is it everywhere I see carrying DS games just because that's the initial shipment that hasn't yet sold?
