I thought it was one of the two Capcom Dungeons & Dragons games, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Here's what I remember:
-It was typical fantasy based
-There were multiple characters
-It was very linear, with very little vertical movement
-Each character had their own element, most notably in their special (one of the guys had fire, and a female could summon a whirlwind)
-It seemed to be a mid-90's game, much like the Dungeons & Dragons games.
That's all I really remember, because I never really played it. I only watched the demo a few times.

No woman but maybe The King of Dragons. Magic Sword or Arabian Fight

Could it have been Golden Axe?

None of those. It seemed darker.

Sounds like Guardian Heroes. Fits all the criteria.

But how could someone forget Guardian Heroes:confused:

Guardian Heroes doesn't have an arcade version, does it? Definitely not it. Not the same style as that game.

There's Blade Master from Irem, it has a fantasy element but may be more hack and slash, but it's from 1991.

That's what I was thinking, but Blade Master only has two playable characters, and they're both dudes. I don't recall any sort of elemental magic either, but I only played the game once so I may have just forgotten. It's a really mediocre game.

Thanks for the suggestions. None of them seem to be it, so I'm thinking I might be remembering it incorrectly. It does play very similar to Capcom beat-em-ups and Golden Axe, so it might just be Golden Axe (Death Adder) or one of the D&D games that I'm remembering wrong.
In fact, since I only saw the intro, it might just be a further level, and certain late spells I'm remembering. Time to watch the D&D and Golden Axe demos.

No, it was sidescrolling for sure.
I just watched the intros to the other games, and none of them matched. Do different regions have different intros or anything?
