Tilted Saturn Disc Spindle....

My very first Saturn purchase was a lot of two back in late 2008; the model one and two. I tested them as soon as I got home, only to find out that the model one had something wrong. The discs wouldn't spin! I opened it up and discovered that the ribbon cable attached to the laser module was hanging loose. It popped in and began to read my games, but with a catch: the discs were scraping the inside of the tray. I opened the system back up and plugged it all in to get a better look. The spindle was tilted and spinning the games at an angle!

So, how would I go about...finding a fix for this? Has anyone had it happen before? While my other Saturn has been fine since, I'd really love to get this one in tip-top shape and give it to my younger brother.

I haven't opened my Saturn in a long time so I may be misunderstanding exactly what's happening, but is it possible that the disk mechanism isn't sitting correctly? If the cable was disconnected, it's possible that whoever was messing around in there didn't make sure everything was back together properly.

You should be able to remove that entire CD part, I think it's held down with 4 or so screws.

The spindle (or whatever it's called) is tilted a bit to the right. The rest of it looks to be perfectly on level with my working Saturn. I'll open it up where you suggested and take another look.

What if you press the spindle? Maybe it just got dislodged a little bit. Watch out for the little metalic balls though.

It lines up better, but only when my finger is on it. Nothing different so far.

I thought about taking a pic. BUT, you can't really notice anything. Looks the same.
My guess is that the spindle may very well be jammed at an angle. It looks a bit deeper than my model two. Unscrewing the spindle and re-sitting it may suffice, but I'm not taking the risk just yet.

The spindle is not screwed on, it can be removed quite easily simply by pulling. As izarate said previously, you just have to watch out for the 3 or 4 small ball bearings (and the springs) that might fall out when you do that.

However, if the spindle tilted, it may be cracked already. So handle with care. But then again, there is always epoxy. 8)
