Quick question, I can't seem to get the search function to work, and after digging through 12 pages I'm just going to ask.

What should I use to clean gunk and years of dirt off the outside of cartridges (mostly the plain nintendo gray cartridges). Currently, I use a cloth and Goo Gone, but I'm afraid the goo gone might eventually make the labels to start to peel. What do you suggest?

I just use windex and hand towel to clean my games. spray the towel with windex and clean away also if you have some writing on it using the magic eraser dose a pretty good job taking it off. but I am sure that some other folks have some good suggests as well.

Combined with rubbing alcohol, I use a paper towel to get most of the surface. Then I use a firm-bristled toothbrush to get the nooks and crannies. I recommend medium-bristled though, as firm feels like it could mess up the surface.

Goo Gone is used if there is any sticker glue on it.

For NES and SNES carts I use a toothbrush and liquid soap, just being careful around the label. Then I rinse it with water and use a towel to dry it. Don't rinse them it they are Majesco re-releases, the labels they used don't take water very well. Of course, you'll have to open it an remove the PCB to do that.

For the rest I just use a wet cloth and some rubbing alcohol.

for the most part I use glass cleaner and a soft cloth. Cotton swaps to get in the cracks. A tiny bit goo gone or wd-40 on a soft cloth to get the shine back, really great on black as alcohol and glass cleaner seems to dry carts out. For stickers I use a hair dry to heat them then pull them off, you might want to open the cart up when you do that becaue of the heat, the left over residue with goo gone. If there are marks, I might use a magic eraser, but be sure to not use the heavy duty kind and don't scrub hard, scrub lightly. It can take the shine off carts so be careful. Nail polish remorer works well for ink also. Now if I have to clean the label, I use no chemicals and just use a lightly damp cloth.

A combination of Windex/Low potency Alcohol, Armor-All if needed, paper towels and a microfiber cloth.

Goo Gone can be used on most any plastic as long as you stay away from cartridge labels and use it in moderation.
