Team ico give ICO and Shadow of the Colossus the GoW Collection treatment by ‘remastering’ both games for PS3 on a single Blu-ray.
(destructiod):The rumors say that the HD re-releases will launch in the first quarter of next year, and if true, it will likely come out in time to promote Team ICO's first big PS3 game, The Last Guardian. Naturally, this is all gormless speculation at the moment, so don't hold your breath just yet. Would be pretty awesome if true though, no?

Day 1 purchase if it happens. I never got to play either on PS2, as I couldn't find Ico when I was initiallly interested and my PS2 broke before I got Shadow of the Colossus.

I'll be buying this.
Not a huge fan of Ico, but a remastered SotC? Very cool. The God of War Collection looked pretty nice...I'm hoping this release will look just as good.

Maybe this will knock down the price of Ico to reasonable levels?

This. I don't own Ico and would also get it. The PS3 collection would be a day one purchase for me as well.
Day one purchase as well just for the re-mastered Ico alone. This has been a rumor for quite some time if I remember correctly, so I think it's safe to say that it's very likely to happen. Hopefully the re-mastered Ico have the subtitles that were missing in the US version of the game.

I dont get the ICO love. I found it a bit before Christmas this year for 30 so I was excited to get my hands on a mint copy. I was able to beat it in about 2 sittings in a hair over 5 hours, 30 minutes of that due to me not knowing there were bombs in the game. The puzzles are super simple and the combat is scarce and easy. The only thing I really liked about the game was the art direction. It gave off a real Im in the middle of a giant tomb feeling. Give me any 3d zelda dungeon any day, at least those games will give you more hours and a lot more to do.
As for SOTC, I still have my sealed copy asking me to play it from time to time, but I just dont have that time. I am excited to play that.

CDiablo. In Shadow of the Colossus you're in an open world with 16 colossi you have to kill. There are no other enemies in the game(except for defenseless birds, fish, and lizards.) Just traverse extremely beautiful looking areas to get to these colossi and then kill them.
Killing the colossi are the puzzles. You have to find out how to get on them, how to get where you're supposed to strike to be able to deal damage, etc. After the first time it's not as good but it's still a great experience, especially if you play it on hard mode where the colossi have twice as much health and multiple weak points.

I'd buy
Too bad there's no indication it's going to happen, just made up rumors.

If it actually happens, I'll definitely buy it. I have a copy of Shadow of the Colossus for PS2 I've been meaning to play (it looks lovely on PS3 in backwards compatibility!), but this sounds like it would definitely be a better way to play it and Ico.

I've got both already, but I'd definetely pick this up. I beat Shadow of the Colossus and have wanted to replay it for a while, but have held off hoping for this collection. I started Ico last fall but fell off a cliff about 45 min in and it set me back about 30 min. At the time I just couldn't make myself replay that part.

I've got both and I'd buy this too, just for the remastered graphics. Great games for sure.

As has been mentioned in the gaming media in relation to this rumor, Amazon France is well known for putting up product pages with dubious validity.
Just the same, I think there's enough demand and excitement over this possible collection to ensure this thing is being developed as we speak for a 2011 release.
Their most recent high profile bogus product page was their Uncharted 3 entry, which listed a 2011 release just before E3.
And as anyone that paid any attention to E3 knows, there was no sign of Uncharted 3 at the show. Amazon France puts things up just with the expectation that it's going to happen without waiting for confirmation. So at the end of the day, it likely means about as much as if you or I claimed it was in development.

I own both games already, and I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I'm a sucker for Ueda, I guess.
... Shouldn't we be angrier about the whole "no more BC consoles, buy it again on Blu-ray" thing? Oh well.

The excitement about this collection isn't necessarily due to gamers just wanting to be able to play these games on their PS3.
Many (Including people such as myself that own both games and a PS2) are excited at the prospect of improved graphics, improved frame rates, and the opportunity to play these games on their modern television without it looking horrible. We're excited to see two great games given some attention and a rerelease. Ico in particular never saw the attention it deserved the first time around.
Quite a few people can't even play Ico on their modern HDTV through component on their PS2 due to their television not supporting the resolution Ico runs at through the component port.
All the problems these two games ever sufferred from (Frame rate issues, looking poor on HDTV's, etc.) should be eliminated, making two great games even better.
And I highly doubt PS2 BC was removed just to help sell a God of War Collection, Sly Cooper Collection, and a Team Ico Collection. And if it helped at all in getting these collections to be developed, I'm glad it's gone.
Why should we be mad?

How do two games make a "collection"?

What if all there were two editions when releasing Last Guardian. Team Ico Collection for $70 or Last Guardian for $60.

Given Sony's practices in Europe, it would be more like LG alone for $60 and a box set with the Ico Collection and LG for $100 or more.

If they're going to the time and expense to port these two games, I doubt they would be sold for just $10.

I agree Ico was beautiful...but easy, short, and lacking substance. And escorting, which is my least favorite action in any game. The puzzles were just way too easy for what basically felt like a puzzle game.
Now, that said, go play SOTC. While the controls will drive you absolutely bonkers, there is no other game like this out there. And the "puzzles" (defeating colossi) are more challenging than anything Ico has to offer. You haven't played a game like this.
I always think of the hair on the colossi when I think of the graphics on Shadow...I can't imagine what that is gonna look like on hi def.

I'm pretty excited this compilation is coming out, cuz I never got around to playing either game when they were current. Now Ico is hard to find and grossly over priced, and even SOTC is getting scarce in my area at least. HD graphics are always a nice plus as well!

If people buy it then why not? Thats how business's stay in business.
Not only is this game coming but several other collections as well(Sly Cooper will arrive soon too). So this is one of the main reasons that Sony killed BC--so they can resell you remastered versions of your old games with trophy support.
It may seem kind of shady to some but it's a pretty sound strategy from a business standpoint. And the GOW collection was pretty amazing(aside from some cut scene issues) so these "collections" aren't such a bad idea for those that missed out on these titles the first time around.

I want this trend of upgraded game collections for PS3 to continue. They did a good job with God of War, and it was a fun excuse to play them again and earn some platinum trophies.
Now it's time to pick up Ico and Shadow of the Collosus, oh yeah!

Running out of major 1st/2nd party series published by Sony to do it to I imagine. I suspect we'll get a Ratchet & Clank collection one of these days and perhaps a Jak and Daxter collection if this one and the Sly Cooper release sell well.
Hopefully some 3d parties realize there's demand for their back catalogs and start taking advantage of them. I'd love something like a Silent Hill collection.

I only own SotC so I'm getting this. I'd also purchase a DMC collection if Capcom released one even though I own all three games.

Meh...I think Ico/Shadow of Colossus sounds interesting because the PS2 really couldn't push the visuals to the level the developers intended. These other collections that are starting to be rumored (Mortal Kombat, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, etc...) don't particularly interest me as they weren't really all that artistic to begin with. I'm very worried that this whole HD collection trend will become the next arcade classic compilation trend and instead of getting some great new IPs and exciting new installments in these series, we will get a year or two of repackaged junk that all of us already own or have beaten.
