Design A Game Around Waluigi

Speaking to me last week at an exclusive pre-release "Super Mario Galaxy 2" gathering for Club Nintendo members at the Nintendo World Store, Charles Martinet told me that, although Mario is his favorite Nintendo character, he also loves Luigi and Waluigi. Going so far as to say that he'd "love to see a Waluigi game where you have to cheat to win, ya know. That would be funny." He continued, in Waluigi's voice, saying, "Waaa Everybody's cheating but me!"

Alright. So, most people will agree that Waluigi is a pretty weak supporting character that is only there to fill the void and buff up the various Mario sports/party games, and that any attempt to make a game around him will probably turn out as good as Shadow the Hedgehog... But lets say it's all up to you to make a good game, and the only stipulation is that Waluigi is the lead... what could you do?

Here's my idea: Waluigi's Trap. As Waluigi, you play dungeon master in various levels (haunted house, castle, etc). Mario, Luigi, Wario, and various other Mushroom Kingdom folks are wandering around and exploring... Waluigi, being the sneaky scoundrel that he is, decides to play some tricks on them. You set traps and surprises Spy vs. Spy style, lock doors, move bookcases to block passages, and use your own secret passages to get around the building without anyone else catching you. Watch and laugh while the witless fools get a bucket of water over their head, or get stuck a room with seemingly no way out! But watch out, because Bowser has found out what you're up to, and he wants in on the action!

I have an idea, in the game he's a cheap used car salesman, he goes on a journey to take back cars, and along the way, tricks and cons people into buying his cars which are lemons, or just kills them. lol Can't decide if Wario should be his side kick, or enemy-boss.

Mario in a mario bros 1, 2, or 3 kinda level tring to get to the end to save the princess. Wario in some of his levels tring to get coins, yoshi, Luigi could be in the mansion. But waluigi is in the controll room pushing buttons for all the things that try to stop them in their levels. Could even be 2 player.? It would kinda be a timing game. Where it's all about managment. Puzzly. Panicy.

You are aware that 'Wa' translates as 'bad' in Japanese? If I remember my Japanese correctly, Waluigi's name makes perfect sense whilst Wario's name is actually nonsense.

I'd like a game centred around Waluigi, or even Wario & Waluigi. I was disappointed when New Super Mario Bros Wii turned out to have two generic toads instead of Wario & Waluigi.

It would be funny if this "evil" version of Bowser was just the complete opposite of the regular Bowser, he would be a caring individual that volunteers at local hospitals and helps around the community. He could be the one who hides gold coins around the levels so Mario would be willing to travel through them, he's just shy which is why he remained anonymous. LOL

Anyway, my two suggestions are:

1. An indirect sequel to Mario's Cement Factory for the Game & Watch, Waluigi's Unoriginality Factory has Waluigi run around collecting Reggie Fil Aimes's feces, rejected Pokemon (may not make the final game as they apparently don't exist), decomposing Game Counselor's corpses and turkey necks in order to shove them into the NOAPimptron 5000 to create new "spinoff" Wa- characters to help fill Nintendo's near empty game pipeline for 2011 to 2015.

2. New Super Waluigi Bros Wii is literally NSMB Wii. The computer controls all 4 characters as they go about each level (and it already can with Super Guide so this wouldn't be a problem) and Waluigi is hiding in the background/sky and it's his job to screw with the 4 computer controlled players so they die before reaching the end of the stage. The 3D worlds would be conducive to giving places where Waluigi can hide out and attack. Over the course of the game, the 4 players realize what's going on and start fighting back at you.

One is serious, one is not, in case you couldn't tell.

Waluigi is actually my favorite Mario series character, no lie. I play as him in every Mario spin-off game I can.

I can't wait for him to get his own game, maybe with Wario.

My theory (since IDK where the hell Waluigi even came from): One day, Wario took a massive garlic-laden dump and voila, Waluigi!

I like to think Waluigi is a play tester for Wario's game studio. Gives him a purpose.

I do play Waluigi sometimes in the games he is in like Mario Party or the sports games... Tends to mess with peoples heads, since they hate him. It's purely a metagame tactic.

It would be quite a bit easier to come up with something if I knew what his story was... On second thought, that's the perfect premise for his game. While also giving him an origin and back story.

Here's my concept:

A game similar to a stealth game, perhaps? It'd be Waluigi's objective to sneak around, such as around the town and Luigi's house, and creep people out to boost his ego. The people he's creeped out could attack back if he scares them too many times or too much. That way, you can scare random people by slipping into buildings through windows, hide in bushes, break into the back seats of cars, etc.

So, basically, it's Sneak King, but without the king, burgers, and it'd actually have playability instead of coding that was rushed by their marketing team using old code from 2002 to rush a trash game to sell with their trash food.
