View Full Version : I have ~200 Atari ST floppies... what should I do with them?

Wow, I haven't been on DP since 7/27/2007... !! Crazy. I'm surprised I remembered my account info.

Anyhow, I was going through some stuff in the house today and realized that I still have the nearly 200 Atari ST floppies that I found several years ago. Didn't know what to do with them then, and I now have that same problem. I don't know anything about the Atari ST or these disks. For all I know, they don't even work anymore. Most of the labels are hand written, some are printed....

My question is, what should I do with them? Throw them out? Any chance that they'd be worth a few bucks? Anything I should look for? They seem to be mostly programs, with a handful of games as well. Here are some names to give you an idea:

Degas Elite
Mean 18 Golf
The Graphic Artist
Athena II
Wordup 3.0
Super Breakout 1.1
Super Cycle
Basketball 2 on 2
Page Stream v2.1
Clip art
Turbo Jet 2.0
ST Writer Elite v2.30
Lotus 1-2-3
Word Perfect v4.1
Quick Forms
A couple Cover Disks...
Neo Desk 3
Turbo ST
Becker Cad

I'm guessing that this stuff is pretty much worthless, but figured I'd ask the experts. ;-)

Thanks for any help.

Instead of doing that or throwing them out, ask over at AtariAge. Someone probably would love to take them off your hands.

I know if I had an ST I'd want to experiment with them, but don't have one of those yet. Too bad they weren't Commodore 64 or Atari 8-bit disks or I'd be all over them.

Thanks for the replies so far.

That's what I'm thinking - SOMEONE would probably be interested in these things, right? I feel bad throwing them out...

Scan them in at 400dpi with descreening for a preservation project I'm launching with a couple other people in a month!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it's tedious, but I'd try to back them all up on a computer. I would assume that, depending how they were stored, at least half of them may not even work anymore.

But now that I think about it, all the ST stuff has probably already been backed up onto the web somewhere, so your hard work might be moot.

I've received a couple PM's asking how much for the lot... so I will probably end up selling them. I simply don't have the time, or interest in Atari ST, to spend on these. Hopefully I can find a good home for them.

Hey! If I were you I would get an atari computer compatible with the floppys and play them till my floppy drive wore out!:guitar:

Please don't throw them out! It's so sad to see good games get trashed :(

I LOVE my Atari ST and I'm always looking for new games. Depending on the amount I might be interested in them as well :)

Crissylas, I feel the same way, which is why I came here to find a new home for them. :-)

All disks have been sold!
