View Full Version : Saturn Keeps Forgetting
I bought a Saturn from someone here about five years ago, and I'm pretty sure I've been having this problem since then. It's always forgetting the time/date and other settings, and it occasionally wipes the save data. Batteries don't seem to last as long as they should be.
Last week, I got the bright idea that there might be an issue with the power cord, so I swapped it for another one from another Saturn. That's not the problem. So what could it be? The battery slot seems a little loose. Could the cartridge I'm using be the cause?

Cartridge? I'm confused as to what battery you're talking about... the one in the system, or the one in the RAM cart? Also, you've done all the basics like replacing the CR2032, right?

The battery in the system. It's been changed multiple times over the years.

It's the Cr2032. They only last about a year, cheap one no where near as long. It's not a power cord issue or a cartridge issue.
If the battery slot is loose, bend the prong a little or find a thicker battery. I know the CR 2040 will work as well.

Yeah, I'd blame the batteries made today not being near as good as whatever Sega officially used. Saturn without a first party RAM cart is all but useless these days.

Could you elaborate on the prong bending?
I put in a new battery when I tried out the other power cord last week. Yesterday, all my save data was gone. To be fair to my Saturn, it is capable of holding on to save data for several months (yet will still keep asking for the language and time/date).

Last CR2032 I bought for the Saturn was a Kodak brand. Expensive - but it lasted about 5 years.

I have an Energizer CR2032 in my Saturn, its lasted about 6 years now. Guess I'm abit lucky that is has, then again, for most of that time my Saturn was plugged in.
