This has been bugging me for a long time... my memories of this game are hazy but I'll do my best to describe it. Please identify it and put my long years of curiosity to an end!

Years ago, at a Cinciclassic meeting I think it was, somebody was showing off a bunch of PAL 2600 titles by adjusting the vertical hold on an old TV. I'm pretty sure these were all exclusively European games (no NTSC equivalent). Most of them had German titles.

One was a skiing game, looking much like any other. You controlled a guy near the top of the screen. The course consisted of two wavy lines that undulated back and forth to simulate your downhill movement. The graphics were simple and ugly... white background, dark objects in foreground. I seem to recall that the animation was really jerky, even by 2600 standards.

The main distinguishing feature of the game was the sound. When your guy hit an obstacle like the side of the screen, the game would play a series of random low-pitched tones that almost sounded like they were trying to be music and failing miserably. It was atrocious and hilarious.

Any guesses to what this game might be? Sorry I can't pull up any more details. I play my 2600 games through a Commodore monotior with a V-hold so I'd love to get a cart just to play it and laugh at the horrible sound!

I bet all those white pixels had something to do with the slowdown ;P

From the pics, I think it may have been Ski Run. I'll have to hunt up a ROM and try it. Thanks for your help everyone!
