There was a comment on this very story at joystiq..

I just ejaculated at 88 mph

I think that sums it up nicely.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, *PLEASE* make a GOOD Back to the Future game!
I can't take another steaming pile of Doc Brown.

"Could be released by this winter"? This is going to be a "Wait and see" thing for me, The Ghostbusters game released last year is a good game but it was over two years in development. In BTTF's case I'm starting to think of all those quickly developed games based on movies and who wants that? If it continues at this rate we might get a decent but boring BTTF game.

You've obviously never played Super Back to the Future 2! Awesome game and way over the top...too bad it only came out on the Super Famicom :(

I wish there was a "vs." between the two titles at the end.

I somehow knew they'd make a new BTTF game or movie or something. I could see it going the same route as Ghostbusters. And maybe the story could be sort of explaining why we didn't get the future we were promised.

Totally stealing this from a different site, but...

The guy that wrote that article is a tool. Back to the Future may be an older movie but it's still awesome! And why does old movie automatically = bad game? Rubbish....

I think it's more that, in a very general sense, movie = bad game.

Thankfully, there are exceptions to that and we'll hopefully be looking at two such exceptions this winter.

Telltale and Jurassic Park? Count me in! :D
I can't wait to see what the final game looks like.

First time I read the article, I misread Telltale as Traveler's Tales and thought we were getting LEGO Jurassic Park and LEGO Back to the Future.

Just imagine it....

Few thoughts. First, a BTTF game could be perfectly good. Unfortunately, the license always wound up with lousy developers. Second, and this is a BIG one I think, if they don't get Christopher Lloyd, Michael J. Fox, and Tom Wilson, forget it. This is a huge opportunity, like Ghostbusters, to get the original cast, make them life-like with graphics, and have their voices. A final chance to extend the franchise, where another film is unlikely.

My reservation with this, is that Tell Tale features mostly cartoonish games, like Monkey Island. Ghostbusters took a long time, largely because the game was passed around like a hot potato, but games with great graphics/worlds take time. This game sounds rushed. While the concept of playing as "yourself" in a BTTF game is cool, no doubt, not to have Marty or Doc would be a travesty.

As for Jurassic Park, if the third movie (and second) proved anything, it is that this is a franchise that has been expanded where it never should have been. Almost all of the JP games in the 90's stunk because at the end of the day, you were walking around shooting dinosaurs. Oh wow, what fun. Turok eventually took that mantle and went in different directions with it. Still, I don't know what the appeal of another JP game would have?

I think the concept of a game on an island with dinosaurs has a place to go, I just dont see where the jurassic park name will tie in to add anything.

I really disagree with this. There were seven Jurassic Park games, plus four Lost World games, and I think on average they were pretty good. The later ones (Jurassic Park III, Operation Genesis) aren't worth talking about, but the 90s ones were generally good. Not only were they worth playing, but they also represented different styles of gameplay.

Wonder if they're gonna be Sam and Max style.

Operation Genesis wasn't bad for what was basically another Zoo Tycoon knockoff.

I could see an escape-thriller type game involving the Jurassic Park franchise. Maybe not so much "I'm going to shoot a dinosaur" as a stealth/evasion game. Throw in some "find the parts for x," "hit all these switches," and "fix/rewire/cut xyz" and some good atmosphere.

As far as BTTF, I don't see how they could do much, although I found Reservoir Dogs for Xbox to be enjoyable even though it was pretty much a run-through of the movie. Maybe they could just make a BTTF game that has something to do with the movie, for once.

You don't remember the scene in the movie where Marty had to run down the street, picking up clocks and dodging bees?

I thought King Kong the Movie Game on Xbox was one of my favorite games of all time. I could see this new jurassic park game being very similar.

So you want a game that looks like 4 year old game, that has an akward camera, 8 hours of gameplay with minimal difficulty and no replay value what so ever for the small small price of 60 bucks? Better pre-order it now.

I've got a feeling that both of these games are going to be episodic and will be short.

Let me say, I did like the JP games, as a JP fan. They played well, but my point has nothing to do with the game play. I'm just asking whether the concept of avoiding/being chased by Dinosaurs is too corny?

BTTF, as an example, could have a plot similar to the old Universal Studios ride. But I'd probably rather see them have it mirror the trilogy. Get to watch, "Hey you, take your hands off her!"

That's not a nice thing to say about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers.

Seconded. The one on the Genesis is probably my favorite. Looks good and plays good too!
That particular JP game is also the very first game in my collection. I got it and the Sonic 2 Genesis set for Christmas back in '94.

Even if the new BTTF games suck. They'll probably still be better than the NES versions.
