What's with all the big reveals right before E3?

We've known about Final Fantasy The 4 Warriors of Light for awhile now. We've only got the US name and that it will receive a US release in the past month or two, but why waste anything about that for E3. We already knew we'd get it. It's got Final Fantasy in the title.

It has always been this way. Publishers don't necessarily want to save all their announcements for the show week as they will get lost in the shuffle. Having said that, the big three console manufacturers have not really made any big announcements like pricing and release dates for Move or Natal, or the 3DS. Similarly, we haven't seen any big first party game announcements yet.

The trailer has nothing to do with a new game. That was an attempt to jump start the movie franchise (as signed in 06 that had stalled out). It just helps that WB owns the MK game IP as well as the movie rights.

We've known they've been trying to do this for a while now. We got the DC Soul Calibur, Virtual On and Ikaruga already. Not a big surprise honestly.


Rock Band 3 Wait, so the release of the game, or the new gimmick? GH47's announement about a real story mode is already out, might as well trump them with talk of more involved guitars.

This is not a big deal. No one save collectors have cared about any JP game in a long while. BttF, like GhostBusters will have some quick buzz (if its done well) and then quickly fall away once the game i mean '4th movie' story plays out.

Just a new twist on the lets get GoldenEye story that has been going on for almost 2 years now?

This goes along w/ the FF news. This has been getting kicked about for a while as well.

Stuff may not be new, but it is getting new press just before the show.

I imagine Killzone 3 and Gears of War 3 are not news, but they are getting headlines. Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Call of Duty Black-Ops, etc. are all getting noticed prior to the show.

The Expo seems to be about the big three and not the little guys. The little guys will be their with smaller announcements.

I'd like to see some more announcements saved for the convention, espeacially with the coverage it has been getting the last couple of years.

Sometimes companies make these announcements before the show because they don't want them to get leaked to the media before the actual E3 conference. Thats why we learned about Nintendo's new 3DS handheld before E3---a website was going to leak the story so Nintendo decided to do it themselves.

The truth is there is no E3. We here at DP have been making the games we want to play since we all found eachother at this website. We're like one big happyworld that is either gaming, sleeping, or working our happy little pants off.

So in other words, ZAMN on XBLA and PSN with 4-player co-ops. One of the new playables is a friendly zombie and the other is Spiderman.

... that wouldn't work so well though. So he'll just look like the boy who cried wolf instead.

I absolutely agree; it's rather dissapointing having looked forward to E3 for a very long time and then as you least expect it...premature revelation! ;)
