I'm not really into neogeo stuff. I mean, SNK fighters were great, but I'm happy with ports or compilation versions.

One game that I can't find in a compilation is windjammers. I used to LOVE this game.

What is the cheapest way to play it?

Cheapest non-piracy is get a Neo Geo CD and a copy of the game. I paid $5 for my copy and $60 for my Neo-Geo CD. But the really cheapest way is find a place that has it in an arcade cabinent and pay a quater to play one session.:)

Pray SNK releases a Data East compilation for the PS2.

Pray SNK releases a Data East compilation for the PS2.

Edit: Corrected in September 2014 to rectify some inaccurate information.

SNK isn't the owner of this title. It ran on Neo Geo hardware but wasn't a SNK developed release. They merely licensed it for publication, it would appear. Thus, they have no ownership of it since it was a Data East owned IP. This particular title is confirmed as going to Paon when Data East broke up and its properties were sold off.

D4 Enterprises has licensed this and is releasing Windjammers on the Wii Virtual Console this month in Japan. It might already be up, I didn't check before making this post (Sadly, this title has since been delisted since this post was originally made.).

They've already released a couple of their Data East titles that ran on Neo Geo hardware over the past several weeks on the Japanese Virtual Console. And they're supposedly going to be making their way to the North American Virtual Console later this year (Alas, releases stopped before they ever fully caught up the North American Wii Shop, leaving this and several other well liked releases exclusive to Japan).

SNK has nothing to do with the game. It ran on NeoGeo hardware but wasn't a SNK developed or published game and they have no ownership of it just like things like Magical Drop III on that Data East Arcade Classics release for the Wii from Majesco (Using licensed G-Mode titles).

They didn't have anything to do with the Sunsoft Collection either - and they released both Waku Waku 7 and Galaxy Fight on one disc.

My comment was more in the vein of "Hope SNK releases a collection with WindJammers, SpinMaster, Street Hoops, and Karnov's Revenge".

are there any neo emulators that play legit neo geo cd games? if you want to stay legal, that would be the route to go.
