View Full Version : Let's SEE your Import Collection! (Not recent finds)

I don't know if this has been done before, but we need some collection pictures here! Not recent finds per-se, but images of your collection as a whole or by console/whatever criteria that you wish. I thought about making this thread all about my collection a month ago. BUT, what's the fun if no one else can show off? Now we can.
I'll start this thread with my collection. It isn't as mighty or noble as some of yours, but its getting there. There are only THREE games that aren't pictured. I just recently got them after my pics were taken and didn't feel like pulling everything back out for redone shots.
These are:
-Silent Hill 2
-Sakura Taisen L.E.
-PokeMon Crystal (loose)
Now, onto what I do have pics of!

Okay, here's (most of) my humble collection:
Super Famicom/PC Engine/PS3

(not pictured: boxes for Umihara Kawase and SFII, manual for Ranma 1/2 Chougi Ranbu-hen)
GBA:
http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/5065/gbab.jpg
(I shipped these all back from Japan, but I was stupid and folding the boxes up to save shipping space never occurred to me, so I threw them all out; I do have the manuals, but they are not pictured)
DS:

(not pictured: all boxes [though I did ship back all DS boxes], Tingle's Balloon Fight DS, Game & Watch Collection, Kanken DS)
Also not pictured: Final Fantasy VII International - I've never owned a PS1, but I bought a copy of this one game in Japan to play on emulators. I also have the PS3 DLC version, for what it's worth.

Looks like I'm scraping together a Dreamcast collection again. Found De La Jet Set Radio for $100, which is bloody steal to say the least, so I found the inspiration from that to buy a CIB JP Dreamcast with three games for $120 shipped.

*drools at all the SFC and Saturn collection pics*
I have a pretty decent Super Famicom collection, starting from when I was a kid. And a Saturn collection that's just getting started. And a LOT of Japanese Pokemon Game Boy games. I'll get some pics posted once my room is clean enough to lay everything out (e.g. when I can actually SEE the floor!! ^^; )
PSony, those Saturn-PS2 controllers look cool - especially the purple one. Where did you get them? I might want to get a couple for my Japanese PS1.

I got them on ebay a while back. Beware; they're not exactly cheap.
Easily the best pad for PS1/PS2 fighting games though.

Not really. I blasted right through it. Then again, I did get to about the halfway point previously in the English GC version, so some of the puzzles came to mind when I found them. Trial and error was king during a majority of the parts that I hadn't played through.
Since it has been a while, I can't remember how frequent katakana turns up. I know 'em all, so I assumed that helped me a tad as well.

What's everything? Need to compare with some eBay BIN's I've been looking at.
Also, I assume there's no spine card for it due to the special packaging? Made a decision that all my DC games will have spine cards, 'cause they're so common on eBay compared to Saturn games with spine cards.
Ooo there's a lot of impressive collections in here! :-P Anyway, here's a mini collection of my import stuff:

I meant the inserts and such. Interestingly, the game does come with an oversized spinecard. It covers the back of the case completely due to the slipcover's lack of screenshots and a barcode. There are two ad slips in the case as well.
Also, there aren't any bonuses besides the slipcover. (None that I'm aware of at least.)

Oh yeah! Dracula X and Radiant Silvergun are fine import starter titles. How much did you pay for both?

IIRC I think I spend about $90 for Dracula X at a import shop back in 2008 which was kinda bad since I overpaid it and it was complete with the game, manual, case, back insert but minus the spine card. :shameful:
On the other hand, I remembered paying about $5 for Radiant Silvergun from a dealer on craigslist back in 2007 who once told me that the game wouldn't "boot up on his American Saturn" and he kept it stored in a box since then. I offered $5 to buy it and after the personal exchanged, I took it home to check up on its condition. I ordered a 4-in-1 Action Replay from play-asia few weeks in advance prior to the purchase of Radiant Silvergun so I have no wait time to test the game out and yes, it worked perfectly and the game was in mint condition and complete with its spine card. ^__^

$90-130 is what Chi no Rondo usually goes for these days, so I wouldn't really say that you overpaid.

Always remember to jump on an import when it won't boot for someone. Chances are, they know nothing of region-locking and believe the game to be dysfunctional.

Damn, you beat me. I paid 500yen, which is probably about $5.50... but no spine card! :D
My Dracula X: Chi no Rondo was 4000yen. But, both of these purchases were made while I was actively looking for this stuff for cheap over my four years living in Japan. Well, RSG was acquired through a trade for a game of equal value, but the price was the same.

Here's my import collection (aside from SMS imports, I'm waiting on one to show up before I take a picture of those), which I've slowly been rebuilding for the past six years. I used to have a bunch of Saturn, Dreamcast and PC Engine CDROM imports (as well as quite a few more Famicom imports), but I have yet to get back into any of those consoles.
Sorry about the blurriness. The camera I have is not the best.

I originally bought it back in '94 from a store that was using it as a decoration (along with that copy of Gradius II). The boxes were hanging from the ceiling, and it was seeing Gradius II that prompted me to ask the owner about them. He was genuinely surprised that anyone even wanted to look at the games, let alone buy any.
If I knew then what I know now, I'd have bought the entire batch of Famicom games he had - and he had a tub full of them. One game I bought from him, then returned, was Majō Densetsu II: Dai Ma Shikyō Galious. I also bought this Airwolf (http://www.videogameden.com/fc.htm?air) game that I returned too.

Yeah, what did you pay for the Konami Deluxe Packs and Sexy Parodius? I had them all on Saturn, but I want them on PSX and am just curious what you paid (in other words, did you get any deals other then their standard "worth much more than their Saturn counterparts" prices?
I got rid of all my Saturn stuff (minimizing the collection) and only keeping PSX(JP), PS2(JP), PS3(US/JP), GC(JP) and Wii(JP) stuff. Unfortunately, PSX shooters are usually a fair bit more than on the Saturn. At least I can get a lot of FC/SFC/N64/SMS/MD/MSX(some...)/PCE/PCEDuo/NeoGeo/DC(soon, and hopefully Saturn) stuff over VC and PSN.

I got the Gradius and Salamander Deluxe Packs when they were both still relatively new (in early '98), so I paid full price for them both. IIRC, I paid about $20 or so for each of the other deluxe packs, and about $40 for Sexy Parodius.
Unfortunately, I haven't priced Saturn games in ages, so I have no idea what their counterparts are going for these days.

Sorry for the quintuple post! @_@
That's just about everything I currently have pictures of online apart from a bunch of manga and assorted books. I lived in Japan from July 2005-April 2010 so I had PLENTY of time (and money) to pick up everything. If you have any questions about what something is or how much something cost, quote the pic and ask away!

My wife and I are both curious as to what the Super Famicom game by Bandai is there.
Also, recent pic of new import additions to my collection. My apologies for the blurriness:

I picked it up in Japan about 2 years ago for around $65. Came with the original box and 2 controllers, but the AC adapter is generic.

It's called "Yam Yam" and it's a bizarre 3D-scrolling shooter in which you ride on the back of a giant duck/platypus thing.

These represent about 70-80% of my entire import collection. Sadly the PS1 pics only consist of 3 games and several demos. The rest of my PS1 import games (120-150+) are still boxed up from the last move I made. And those PS1 demos only represent about two-thirds of that demo collection because the rest are either boxed up or in a cd binder. But atleast everything else was out and picture ready.

Some of my super famicom and jpn megadrive games (lots more came in, just didn't update any pics). More old pics in my sig. Haven't updated in years though. Got a pretty huge pc-engine & pc-fx, jpn ps1, jpn ps2, saturn, dc, 8bit famicom, jpn pc collection now and a bunch of other stuff. Not complete collections. I only pick up "action" type titles and ALL the "big name"/"high value" titles. No cheesy mahjong or dating sim, etc crap! haha

Nice taste in games Gum Drops. Take the Crows and Cho Aniki out of the pictures and you pretty much have my exact collection. Where did you find your Eliminate Down? If it wasn't for a really cool user on the SHMUPS forum I probably would have never found one.

I picked it up on ebay for around 350.00 a couple years back, was a bitch finding at that time. The price seems to have dropped recently. There is one with a BIN at 260.00 on ebay right now.

My girlfriend got it on Amazon Japan for only 2000yen!
Most stores in Japan sell it for 8000yen+ though, so I just got lucky.

Sorry for the lack of visibility of the Dreamcast, Saturn, and PS1 games. The Dreamcast collection is pretty mixed. Some platformers, some shmups, some puzzle games. Nice variation all together. The Saturn collection is mostly shmups, and some platformers and fighting games. The PS1 US collection consists mainly of RPG's. You can just zoom in if you're curious about titles.
Some missing games:
Stella Deus
Various PS2 US and JP games
Ys IV
Plus a good number of soundtracks and artbooks.
Got huge storage issues, as I'm fucked basically. I can barely fit in another PSP game and there's around 7 future titles I really want. Then there's the 3DS and I've been looking to starting a small JP GBA collection aswell.

I've been meaning to post in this topic for awhile. There's no way I can (or would, haha) take pictures of every import I got, but I figured I'd share some of my favorite themed collections. Here are two for now, and sorry that I stink at taking photos.
My N64 import collection (ONLY Japan-exclusives):
http://inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/storage/n64import_collection.jpg
One is missing, however, because I saved it for my Wonder Project J collection:
http://inverteddungeon.com/triacesuperfan/storage/wpj_collection.jpg
Most of you probably aren't even familiar with the series, but I adore it. This is one of my smaller collections but also one of the most difficult. It's quite the special occasion when I finally get my hands on another piece for it. As for what you're looking at, yep, that's a manufacturer's box of Wonder Project J2. I got the official guides, most of the manga, a couple magazines with cover features, the promo pencil board, and the black book is purposely upside down because I think I'd be breaking some rules if I had it the other way up. :P It's a doujinshi comic, a hentai one at that. It's pretty nasty, haha, but when I set my mind to collect EVERY piece of merchandise related to a game, I include doujinshi, whatever its content may be. Anyway, I'm very proud of this collection, so I hope you guys find it interesting. :)

My collection probably wouldn't be interesting to look at.
With my SFC games, I put the boxes in a storage tote (not sure if it'd be better to open and flatten all the boxes or just leave them piled up) and put the carts and manuals in other plastic bins for easier playing access. I've kinda wondered if I should put the plastic trays in the boxes or leave them out, as I could stack those to save space.
I'm thinking I should similarly separate my Famicom carts and manuals from their boxes. Just decided to play one of my boxed games and realized I dig through several boxes that are piled up in a drawer in a plastic storage chest alongside my loose collection.

Cool stuff Aussie2B. Focused collections are always pretty interesting. Especially when it causes some really obscure stuff to bubble up.

Well, this certainly makes me want to post pictures of my imports. I have just shy of 1400 import titles CIB. If I get the time to pull them all down and take pics I'll do it - though it would probably consume a couple days easy. I could just take pics of the walls, but that's not as exciting... We'll see I suppose...
Damn, I want that Radiant Silvergun cabinet so bad.

The Bikkuriman game isn't really a game as such. In Japan Lotte has a snack that is a wafer sandwiched with chocolate, in each pack is a sticker & they are packed at random some of the stickers are extremely rare. This DS software has all the stickers all as an interactive encyclopedia, you can manipulate the ones that do interesting things like the scratch stickers & the hologram ones along with loads of others, only one to get if your a fan of the bikkuriman stickers though.
