I haven't gotten my copy yet, but it shipped from Amazon a few days ago. There weren't any pre-order bonuses and I have too much in my backlog right now, so I skipped the day-one run to GameStop this time.

Has anyone else picked it up yet? How is the new content, particularly the easy mode? I'm excited at the prospect of actually being able to finish the games without throwing my DS against the wall. Are the "blood" splashes intact, or did they edit those out again?

I hear the only blood that was restored is in the opening sequence of Mega Man Zero 1. Everything else is edited as it had been.

Mega Man Zero 1

The only good game on the collection.

That's weird. Why even bother at all if that's the case?

It could help reduce the price on the GBA counterparts. Make them a bit more accessible.

I'm sure that was exactly what Capcom had in mind...

For them to poop on! :rocker:

They don't care what you pay for the GBA games, now. They don't get a dime. You literally have to find all 4 of them for $4-6 each to even make it worth the while, with the DS comp on the shelves. Even at those prices... 4 loose GBA games vs 1 CIB DS game - in a clamshell case costs a few bucks more... Maybe $3 each is closer to the worthwhile mark.

Seriously, 4 last gen games for $30... They can potentially sell a repackaged existing product to new Mega Man fans (brought to the fold via MM9 and/or 10), people who only bought 1, 2 or 3 of the 4 GBA Zero games... And now, thanks to the Nintendo DSiXL, Stuwart's decrepit grandmother with a club foot and glaucoma.

I mean why bother adding the blood in the intro of one game but nowhere else.

I've read that some of the dialouge has been edited... references to death have been replaced with something less harsh (such as "just kill me" is changed to "finish me"). Did Capcom hire some ex-writers from 4Kids?

I might pick this one up. The difficulty of the games kinda scared me away, but the inclusion of an easy mode might mean I might actually be able to finish one now.

Oh good Lord... THIS is the reason I have trouble sleeping at night. There is no reason for any editing in this release, which should have been the definitive edition for American gamers. If this is really as bad as it sounds, I'm seriously going to be pissed...

Did they leave the singing intact in the ending to 4?

Apparently they left the lyrics intact for Zero 4. Below is a link to all the changes observed.

Aside from the dialouge editing (which, in my opinion is the least worst thing they could have done), the other changes seem positive.

One other note is that apparently playing on easy mode actually links all four games together... you can play all four in a single narrative.

Alright, I can live with this. Still not perfect, but when was the last time we got that?

I'm definitely going to play through easy mode. I played Zero 1 several times before, but I really don't want to go through the frustration again.

I'm strongly considering picking up the GBA games now, for collection purposes. Zero 4 is easy to find new online, and Zero 3 is a little pricier but still available. I wonder if this collection will increase or decrease prices...

They're Mega Man games.

If they're any decent the player shouldn't even be noticing nonsense like the story that is tossed in or the color of blood and such. That's not why people play a Mega Man game.

I agree with Leo.

I also hope this obliterates the prices of the GBA versions cause they're ridiculous.

My friend got this on launch date and has said only good things about it. Ports are perfect with enhanced audio. The extra modes add quite a bit of replay value. Easy mode is optional and eliminates grinding completely. Controls are fully customizable, and the X & Y button can be used. I'd say it's definitely worth it, one way or another. One day, this will drop to $19.99 and it will be about the same value as the original GBA versions.
