basically i have the chance to get a boxed mega drive 2 its the lion king edition is it rare?

I have no idea, but by the sound of it, it has to be haha. Anything with the lion king is cool by me.

I remember Sega selling the Genesis with the Lion King pack in but I believe the Genesis was just a standard unit. Does this have any special design to the unit (aka. big lions head console, different colored console, etc.)?

The edition itself was really only around at holiday season '94 to coincide with the game's release and the holiday season, so it's an uncommon edition, but I do think it's the same basic system but with a lion king pack-in/packaging.
I do remember the Lion King Game Gears being blue instead of black, but I don't think this feature was shared with the Genny.
The major difference of the Lion King pack-in variant is that it has "jungle" style artwork. There is no other major difference, other than the game. The "Core" version below does not come with a game. The Sonic 2 and Lion King variants come with camshell(hard plastic) cases for the games where as the Sega 6-PAK came loose in the box.
Does anybody else know of any more Genesis Model 2 box variants?

Guys, he's talking the PAL unit, not an NTSC one.
I've got no clue how rare it is, but if you're a fan of pack-in units and you feel comfortable with the price, then thats all that really matters.
