Both of these magazines have recently returned from the dead. I picked up the return issues for each magazine a couple of weeks ago - assuming I did not receive them they day they were released, I have been keeping an eye out for a second issue of each.
EGM has a website:
http://www.egmnow.com/
with a dedicated webzine.
GameFan does not, and google and Bing give me no information. Hoping it did not tank after a single issue.
Both magazines were excellent. GameFan picks up where Play ended, but seems much enhanced.
Anyone have any news on either magazine?

There was a new Gamefan? How did I miss this?

I've got a year subscription to EGM; signed up for that MONTHS in advance.
Gamefan - I couldn't locate this, even at Micro Center. Either it sold out quickly or they didn't stock it. Either way, I missed that first issue completely...but from the sounds of it, I didn't really miss a thing.

Fuck Gamefan. I had a year left on my Play subscription and not only did they end the magazine but they didn't give me a refund on my remaining issues. Instead they decided to use that money for yet another magazine. I'm definitely not supporting anymore Halverson mags again.
As for EGM, I also have a year subscription to that but only one issue has come out so far and that was well over a month ago. I hope it hasn't tanked already.

Thanks for that. Seems a bit obvious...
Actually I thought the first issue of GameFan was excellent. COpies have sold out around here - as I have looked for the second issue I saw no remaining issues of the first....
