I was browsing through my NES games and I found this game. I was never able to play it because it works only on NES's that are made after 1990 or something like that (mine is older so I could never play it).

I was a little curious about it. It looks like a Mahjongg game, it is a queer looking black cart, and is made by American Video Entertainment.

Does anybody know anything about it?

its a puzzle game that sort of plays like mahjong...not very good or fun to play. Not common though, as all ave carts arent.

It is a puzzle game based off of mahjong. The game was published by American Video Entertainment, originally made by Hacker International and known as Idol Shisen Mahjong (you know what that means...nudie girls).

I had personally enjoyed playing Tiles of Fate. I had purchased it back in 1999 while my brother was on his class graduation trip for high school. I got it at the mall, same night I managed to find Dudes with Attitude, Mermaids of Atlantis, Vindicators, and Alien Syndrome. It may not seem like that big of a deal now, but it was then, to find five unlicensed games (three of them being AVE) at a local Babbages.

Tiles of Fate features some mediocre music, but very addictive game play. It also has some nice cut scenes to boot, revolving around the story of conquering ancient China kingdoms.

It's not true because i can play it on my original NES i got back in 1987. It's depend on what motherboard revision you got. I think Nintendo made over 11 revisions during the NES life.

Is there a way to figure out which revision I have?

I don't have a open NES with me right now. But if you open yours and look on the motherboard. IIRC, there a R with a number next to him like "R 3" or something like that.

I remember seen a web site with infos about those revisions but i lost the link :/
