Don't want to go making a WTB thread without confirming whether I could afford one. Seems like most of the stuff I've asked about here is so oddball it doesn't have a known value. Let's hope this does.

I mean just the standard US launch model. Shouldn't be too difficult, as millions were made. We all know they were bundled with 99% of new systems ever sold. At least until SNES2, I think I'd heard those have minor changes.

You should really be posting in the 'What's it Worth?' forum.

Hmm. I thought that forum was for you've obtained and don't know the value of. I'm pretty new on how things work here.

Don't seem that new to me

That's the forum where people go to find out what stuff is worth. Doesn't really matter if you have it or not. You're just more likely to get a response there than here.

What do you want?

They didn't bundle in individally packed controllers with their own box with 99% of the consoles sold. And your not going to find someone that bought a SuperNes console NIB that it going to now take the controller out and sell it individually to you.

The controllers sold individually that I presume your looking for a NIB one of would've been for replacements and people buying an extra controller for multiplayer (So there's automatically far fewer of them sold then there were consoles). And I highly doubt your going to find any of the earlier model ones for sale NIB.

Anything you find will likely be of the SNES2 variety so you'll want to be cautious since the Chinese have made many knockoffs (Even copying the box) of them that are of poor quality.

All the above being said, I'm 99% sure I've seen a chunk of NIB SNES controllers at a local game store, I've never bothered to do any real research on if they were knockoffs but I believe Mario is pictured on the box and they look just like normal SNES controllers. They are either $5 or $8, so if they are legit I'd assume not super valuable.

They're probably knockoffs if they have multiples of them in 2010 since they've also copied the box that the SNES2 style controllers came in (With the Super Mario RPG inspired Mario on the front of the box).

Online retailers and sites like eBay are flooded with these things sadly, making it extremely difficult to locate legitimate SNES2 controllers with any kind of certainty.

There's actually so many knockoffs of them that a surprising number of people now believe it was never even a legitimate controller design (Guess they weren't paying attention to the SuperNes from 1998-2000 to notice the system redesign that included changing up the controller's visual appearance).

There's even been a few such ignorant individuals at DigitalPress that now insist it was a design not created by Nintendo.

You're probably right, but to be fair, I bought a NIB Turbo Graphx from the same store a few years back, and they had 4 of them at the time. Apparently the owner travels around a few states and just buys out warehouse sorta deals.

I meant that, although more expensive, buying a NIB console would achieve the same result since it'd contain a NIB controller accordingly.

they are not going to be easy to find, but i found 2 once. they are out there believe me. i found 2 on a table at a random garage sale 3 or 4 years ago. they said they bought them and never used them, and sold the system many years ago and just had these laying around. value is tough, but id say in the 20-40 range maybe

Sounds about right. When both supply and demand are equally low like this, it's hard to peg down.

I wish I had purchased some more spares from Nintendo's online store.

They were selling NIB NES dogbone controllers, SuperNes2 controllers, and Nintendo 64 controllers just a couple of years ago.

Maybe someday they will open up the production lines again (They did at least one fresh run of new N64 controllers a couple of years after the N64 was discontinued to stock their online store). But that's almost certainly wishful thinking on my part.

If it helps at all, my dad found an authentic factory sealed Nintendo SNES controller. I looked over it and everything about it was right (it wasn't one of those 3rd party ones). I told him to put it up on eBay for $50 and see if anyone bites and someone bought it within a couple of days. That was maybe 6 months ago so the price should be accurate.
