Has it really been 19 years?! Today on June 23,1991 a little blue hedgehog changed the way we play fast action games and went head to head with Nintendo's Mario. Sonic The Hedgehog turns 19 years old today, and he may not be the same as he was back then... *SIGH*,but he is still the blue hedgehog that told us we were all way past cool and made us wanna play the Sega Genesis and defeat the evil Dr. Robotnik.
Happy Birthday Sonic. A toast, to the fastest thing alive!!

19 years? Damn. I was too young to remember the original Sonic coming out but it seems like just yesterday that Sega was ramming the 10th anniversary and Sonic Adventure 2 stuff down our throats.

Let's not..
I still remember my first console memory. Watching someone play Sonic 1 on their amazing Genesis. It completely blew me away and is the first time I remember ever seeing games. Shortly after my sister got her own genesis. That day was awesome.

Happy birthday Sonic! I remember when you were born, everyone said how great you looked.
I miss those days, playing Sonic at my friend's house down the street, it was FANTASTIC. All I had was my NES, but Super Mario Bros. 3 kept me busy enough in my 8 bit world. Didn't own a Genesis until I was an adult. :( Oh well. Sonic is showing his age now, starting to walk funny in Sonic 4, but give the guy a break, it's all his stupid buddies' fault why most the 3d games were sub par. I'm looking at you Big the Cat! Anyways, hats off to you blue hedgehog guy!

Despite a few bad games in the series, there is no denying the impact the original Sonic did to the industry and what it did to make the Genesis a household name.

Holy shit, 19 years. I remember playing Sonic 1 on rental shops with my brother when I was young. I was totally blown away with the game; it was so beautiful, fast and fun to play...good memories. My Mega Drive came packaged with Sonic 2, and to this day I love that game.
Here's to Sonic! :cheers:Let's all hope he gets back to his good shape soon!
